This position is located in United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti. Under the overall supervision of the Chief Security Advisor (CSA) , the Security Officer FS-4 reports to the Deputy Security Adviser/Deputy Chief Security Officer (DSA/DCSO ) on all security operations as assigned.

Responsibilities

•Within limits of delegated authority, the Security Officer, FS-4, may be responsible for the following duties;
•Assists the CSA/DCSA/DCSO/Security Coordination Officers in the supervision of a Security Unit, as assigned;
•Monitors prevailing local security conditions and trends and advises UN personnel, project personnel and eligible dependants on security issues;
•Monitors air, land and sea emergency evacuation capability; conducts evacuation exercises;
•Assists in the evaluation accessible areas, maintain tracking systems and assist in the coordination of a 24- hour Emergency Response System;
•Contributes to security risk assessments for the area of operations;
•Monitors or conducts security operations;
•Assists senior Officers in briefing to the CSA/CSO/SA/Security Coordination Officer or Deputy CSA/CSO on the status, activity
and requirements of the unit; •Performs other duties as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent technical or vocational certificate.

Work Experience

A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the military, police, security management or analysis with a military, police or international security management organization is required, including at least two years experience and exposure at the international level and at least one year of experience in a conflict and post conflict environment.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
