The Department Advisory Services offers thematic and methodological services at Caritas and to external clients. Our core competencies are in Food Security and Markets, WASH, Education and Income, Migration, Climate Change and DRR, as well as Humanitarian Aid. As senior advisor security, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and management of Caritas Switzerland’s global security and safety management as well as to support our staff to ensure conflict sensitive programme management.
Your duties
Ensure proper implementation and further develop the safety and security management system at head office and on country level
Manage the continuous review of organisational and country-level security processes (local security plans)
Advise head office and field staff on security and safety questions in their operational programmes and on missions abroad
Ensure compliance to security standards (ISO310000)
Act as security lead during crises situations and crisis drills on organizational and country level
Support duty of care and compliance in matters related to safety and security at all levels of the organisation
Compile and draw lessons learned from reported incidents
Advise head office and field staff on conflict sensitive programme management Conduct security assessments on behalf of country teams
Introduce new staff on security and safety management at Caritas Switzerland as well as oversee security training for all staff as well as specialized individual training
Represent Caritas at security forums such as EISF and cinfo-security group
Our requirements
University degree in a relevant discipline
Previous experience of a senior security management position, preferably within an INGO setting
Experience of managing security and safety in complex and fragile settings, including conflict and post-conflict zones
Deployment experience in complex environments is considered an advantage
Exceptional standard of analytical and writing skills
Exceptional communication skills, experience communicating at a strategic level
Experience of delivering training to multi-national staff
Proven ability to work in a multi-national environment
Experience of and ability to react to crises
Willingness and ability to undertake travel internationally and also travel to insecure environments
Fluency in German and English. At least one additional foreign language (French and/or Spanish preferred)
Place of work: Lucerne, with travel abroad
