Security Coordinator

The Role
Reporting to the Post Security Manager (PSM), the Security Coordinator will work within the embassy’s Security Management Section playing an integral role in the delivery of security strategy to reduce risk and respond effectively to emerging threats.

The job holder will provide hands on day to day supervision and guidance to the embassy’s contracted security guard force, ensuring the effective delivery of manned guarding services to the highest standards at all times. The job holder will also provide resilience to the embassy’s Security Management Team, providing out of normal hours assistance during times of increased threat or incident management, coordinating security resources and managing emergency response in order to ensure the safety and protection of critical embassy assets.

Duties and Responsibilities
• To be the main point of contact for the PSM, taking a leading role in the delivery of a range of manned guarding services and to provide essential resilience to the Security Management Team during times of increased threat.
• To provide hands on, day to day leadership, supervision and direction to a large contracted security guard force and to liaise with the contractor’s management team.
• To manage the embassy guard room, ensuring security policy is adhered to and the operational effectiveness of all procedural, physical and technical security measures is maintained at all times.
• To ensure all official security records and paperwork is administered effectively.
• Under direction of the PSM, to provide an out of hours response to security incidents, assisting in the coordination of security resources and management of any emergency response.
• To monitor and report to the PSM or Regional Overseas Security Manager (ROSM) security breaches and security related incidents, and assisting with post breach/incident management.
• To assist the PSM in the planning and execution of security strategy for large embassy events and visits.
• To coordinate and administer duty rosters for the contracted security guard force across two secure sites and mobile patrol teams.
• To administer all necessary paperwork to allow timely and accurate financial forecasting on behalf of both the contracted guard force and embassy, including guard leave, time sheets, overtime and requests for additional guards and other resources.
• To liaise and coordinate with the Ministry of Interior Police deployed at two secure sites.
• To develop and deliver training to the contracted security guard force to improve personal standards and ensure a robust, effective and coordinated response to incidents.
• Under the direction of the PSM, to take an active role in security incident practice drills.
• To assist the PSM with recruitment and induction of new security guards.
• To identify and report faults within security systems to the PSM in a timely manner, monitoring remedial action accordingly.
• To maintain an accurate inventory of security equipment, ensuring all equipment is in satisfactory working order.
• Assisting the PSM with regular testing of physical and technical security measures.
• To provide back-up to PSM duties during times of PSM absence.
• To take an active role within the embassy, building relationships with other departments in order to ensure a quality service.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience


Essential Criterias:

• Ability to converse fluently in English is essential
• At least 3 years’ experience supervising or managing a large security guard force or 5 years’ experience of providing manned guarding services within a sensitive operating environment
• Exceptional leadership skills and ability to command respect
• Able to think innovatively and prepared to make decisions
• Must have a good knowledge of IT systems and able to use MS Office
• Able to write reports efficiently and on time
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus
• Personal drive and the ability to be a self-starter as well as a team player
• Strong organisational, analytical and time management skills, with very good attention to detail
• Flexible, resilient under pressure and decisive with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines
• Good knowledge of access control, event security and incident response, in addition to a range of manned guarding duties
• Able to work out of hours when required
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience


Desirable Criterias:

• Military, police or commercial security background
• Able to speak Arabic or any other commonly spoken languages in Bahrain is an advantage but not essential
