The Opportunity:


As the Regional Safety and Security Adviser you will oversee, contribute towards, promote and implement the global security strategy, policies and guidelines in conjunction with (and in consideration of) Plan’s Global Security Policy, Security Standards and Security Plans for all the Region’s Offices and other designated entities.

You will be required to proactively provide advice, support, instruction and training to all Plan International offices in the region on safety and security issues and will be the technical supervisor of all security appointments within the region.

In this role, you will also be expected to travel extensively, on short notice, to various locations, in order to assess situations, and/or provide the necessary technical guidance.

This exciting role will lead you to being the key security and safety focal point within Asia

Do you have what it takes?

In order to succeed in the this challenging role you will need demonstrable knowledge and practical work experience with proven capabilities in planning, organizing and executing security operations, preferably within the non-profit, NGO field.

In depth knowledge or work experience in Asia, as well as a complex emergency environment. With a deep and clear understanding of humanitarian principles, and codes of conduct.

Good understanding and experience in neutrality in local conflicts and conflicting parties - interaction with all parties and maintaining a position of (humanitarian) neutrality is a necessity of the role.

Demonstrable experience in security report writing and analysis (sample will be requested). As well as advanced level knowledge of communications technology, including VHF, HF radio systems, satellite communications, and cell phone mediums.

The ability to travel on short notice, to locations that are considered difficult

Strong English language skills. Both written and verbal.

Location: Manila or Yangon

Type of Role: Local Contract (no expat package)

Term: 2 year fixed term contract

Reports to: Regional Director, Asia
