Job Description
All Security Managers are required to embrace and promote the Global Security mission. While maintaining the desired level of security system effectiveness, the site security manager in charge of gold security will be responsible for developing security programs enabling the site and its ongoing expansion projects to be in full compliance with the Global Security Standardization Program (GSSP), especially regarding gold security. The position will report administratively to the Senior Security Manager and the Vice President / General Manager Tasiast and operationally to the Regional Security Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Ensures mine site security operations align with the Global Security Standardization Program
Development and implementation of Global Security strategies, especially regarding gold security, at the site.
Ensure Global Security strategies are being correctly implemented and followed at the site, with an emphasis on Expansion I and II projects.
Responsible to report to Senior Security Manager and Regional Security site self-assessments and corrective actions on annual audit data to improve effectiveness on gold security.
Liaise with Process Department on a regular basis to improve security at the gold room and on the gold circuits.
Liaise with Project managers (Phases I and II) on a regular basis to reach the highest industrial security standards regarding gold security.
Develop continuous exercises and performance tests designed to test the effectiveness of the security systems deployed to mitigate the gold theft risk.
Develop a good understanding of gold production processes and be able to locate vulnerable areas in the gold circuit.
Professionally develop and train national employees in gold security technics.
Develop a succession plan to include national employees.
Serves as secondary security advisor for the site.
Security support for Process Plant Department at Tasiast
Conduct investigations related directly or indirectly to gold theft.
Advise site leadership on gold theft risk mitigation strategies and security solutions.
Personnel safety/security plans and awareness training.
Collaborate with CCTV operators concerning anomalies occurring during gold pours, maintenance of equipment, movement of GBM, etc.
Collaborate with regional management to advance gold security integration within Process Plant department.
Security Program development
Manage information collection related to gold security issues.
Oversee security requirements for development and expansion projects.

Follows and implements programs contained in the Global Security Standardization Program to include the performance based strategy and security program development. Ensure mine site security plans are aligned with the standards and guidelines set forth by Global Security. Provide regular security updates and briefings to site management and regional security manager. Ensure information and case management. Train and develop national employees to eventually move up in the organization
Scope of Responsibility & Complexity
Work is performed under limited direction according to Global Security Standardization Program. Problem resolution is within established guidelines and procedures, requiring the use of judgement to determine which of many methods are applicable in any given situation. Work is complex involving sensitive matters. Seeks assistance from others when dealing with unfamiliar or problem situations. Ensures that projects are completed on-time, on-budget, and to required standards. Initiates, implements, evaluates, and modifies own projects and plans in response to needs of the business. Assists and directs mine site security supervisors. Closely interacts with mine site management to ensure security systems are performing to the desired level of effectiveness.
Education and Experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of industrial security or infrastructure protection experience.
Excellent understanding of gold mining processes. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in gold mining security.
Bachelor degree in criminal justice, security management, industrial security or related field.
Experience executing security programs and initiatives in developing countries.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience within the security, military or law enforcement community.
Understanding of host government public security forces and their roles when providing assistance.
Able to articulate well, with excellent presence when briefing management on security program plans and activities.
Excellent written and speaking communications skills at all levels of management.
Ability to effectively deal with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Able to review, analyze, and extract data from various sources.
Intelligent, persuasive, and articulate leader who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of individuals with a technical background.
Proficient in the use of computers and other communications devices to include MS Office package.
Able to function independently, under pressure, and perform multiple security duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
Skills
Well-developed incident report writing and presentation skills.
ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) would be a plus.
Demonstrated experience with project management techniques or related skills.
Experience in developing, forecasting, and managing budgets.
Strong communications skills.
Must speak English. Excellent command of French (spoken).
Business continuity and/or crisis management experience.
Team player with a strong inclination towards developing co-operative solutions.
Ability to learn quickly.
Individual is able to prioritize effectively, work within strict deadlines and align individual work with the organization’s business objectives
