JOB PURPOSE
The Security Operations Officers works as part of the Security Team to manage the provision of advice and support to line managers and employees on general security
questions/policy interpretation as appropriate and leveraging the support of the Security team to embed security processes and tools.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
The job holder will work with other security teams to maintain high levels of customer service and to resolve service issues together as they arise and reflect best practice in the delivery of security advice and solutions.
Support provided by the Security Operations Officers helps optimise performance in respective business areas. This will require a consultative approach to understand and diagnose the issues before working with the line manager to develop a solution and influence a change which is tailored to the environment and employees involved.
The Security Operations Officers will also contribute to the development of Security Policy and processes and the improvement of security processes for their defined area of responsibility.
The role may also complete security reporting/data requirements for respective business areas and provide data and analysis of BU metrics as required.
This Security role is typically delivered by individual contributors but who also have supervisory accountability for a small team of professionals. The Security Operations Officers can be called upon to deliver security tasks and activities commensurate with their necessary skill set.
Ensure adherence to and implement of the Company’s SHE policy, ensuring all the security activities are conducted in line with the relevant directives / instructions.
Coordinate, assist and conduct Technical Security Counter Measures Tasking’s, as directed by the BAE Systems Head of Security and Head of Operational Security.
Provide reports on request when required for hotels, travel routes, off site visit surveys, residential compound and office complexes.
Undertake additional tasks as determined by the Head of Security Operations, Security Team Leader and BAE Systems Management.
To provide security support to specialised events, VIP visits and Business Support Services authorised activities.
The role requires out of core duty working hours in response to Incident management as well as out of core duty working hours in support of the Duty Officer.
The role interacts with the relevant customer groups including all KPC’s, ISE, Applied intelligence and BAE Systems Inc.
The role will need to be competent on Workspace.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Extensive security experience in a mid-size organization preferably in the military / aviation / defence industry or emergency services.
Recruitment specification also includes the job holder to have attended a course in Security Management.
The job holder will need a good understanding of concepts and procedures within own security technical / subject area and a basic knowledge in other security areas.
The Role typically requires an extensive amount of practical security knowledge gained through experience.
The requirement for a broader basic knowledge of other security concepts and procedures implies the need to understand them in context, how they sit in the organisation as a whole and how they relate to their own security area.
The role requires a basic understanding of own security area and how it interacts with others within the security function.
The role requires ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience. This necessitates the ability to assess the validity and applicability of previous or similar experiences and evaluate options under circumstances that are not covered by procedures.
The role has an impact on the business by influencing decisions through advice, counsel or facilitating services to others.
The impact of the jobholder is on their team and other teams whose work activities are closely related. The performance of the teams will be directly affected by the performance of the individual.
The role will have developed communications skills to exchange/handle complex or sensitive information.
