Role and responsibilities
Generic Responsibilities
Contribute to the fulfillment of the aims and objectives for NRC presence in Middle East Region and establish a sound culture of security and attitude to risk among all staff
Quality assure an adequate crisis management organization and preparedness in the region
Monitor, access and analyze the Regional context on a regular basis and give recommendations to the senior management, aiming to secure accountability and effectiveness of NRC’s regional and country specific response
Contribute to the design, implementation and compliance to NRC Security Management System in Middle East Region
Conduct and contribute in performing security Risk Assessments (SRA) as outlined in the NRC security management policy, and when situations requires develop context specific security plans to NRC while enabling effective access to beneficiaries.
Monitor MOSS compliance in NRC operations, advise and recommend introduction of contextual relevant SOP’s and contingency plans
Advice the RD, and act on the RD’s behalf in implementation of effective mitigating safety and security measures.
Contribute to establishment and uphold of Country operations red lines and risk tolerance
Upon request or when observation of critical shortcomings to organizational red lines, undertake MOSS audit, and recommend investigational first steps to disclose breaches of NRC policies to Regional Head of Security
Specific Responsibilities
Identify regional best practices and ensure learning and adaption of these across the region.
Compile Country and Regional analysis that support NRC ability to timely adapts programme implementation on country and regional level.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Solid technical knowledge and experience with security risk management, and critical incident management for minimum 3 years of practical experience in the field in a complex and volatile context.
Passionate towards working in security in the humanitarian sector, and collaborate and work together with different actors to promote the importance of personal conduct and behaviour in maintaining security.
In this position you’ll be responsible for looking after security in 3 of these countries: Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, and Jordan and you’ll report to the Regional Head of Security.

Contract period: 24 months
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions
Duty station: Amman, 40% travel (Family Duty-Station).
