We are presently seeking a Police Advisor II to assist the Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI). CARSI supports the creation of regional programs that focus on enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of police departments within the Central America Region. The Level 2 Police Advisor will be help manage and implement all of the work required under this initiative. The Level 2 Police Advisor will receive tasks and assignments related to this initiative from the Director and/or Level 1 Police Advisor of CAPRI.




Required—you ‘gotta have it:
U.S. Citizenship.
A total of 20 years professional work experience with a U.S. Metropolitan Police Department or Federal Agency, to include experience in Management, Training and/or Criminal Intelligence/Analysis institutional areas or possess the qualifications of an active or retired Colombian National Police Colonel.
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
Ability to adjust application of best practices, lessons learned, and international norms to an overseas environment.
Superior interpersonal skills working with all levels.
Spanish speaking.
Experience working overseas, particularly past experience assisting US Embassies with policing related international programs or initiatives (preferred).


Responsibilities—what your days will look like:
Implementation of police reform strategies as it relates to macro level or specific area police reforms (multiple countries), as per instructions given by Director and/or Level 1 Police Advisor of CAPRI.
Implementation of Police Academy Reform Initiatives (multiple countries), agreed upon by Director and/or Level 1 Police Advisor of CAPRI.
Assisting in the implementation process of the police reform initiatives being administered within Panama (as it relates to macro level or specific area police reforms).
Responsible for managing committee groups (multiple countries), related to police reform initiatives.
Provide evaluation and feedback to Director and/or Level 1 Police Advisor, related to the progress and implementation process of police reform initiatives.
Responsible for communicating to key stakeholders and embassy officials the progress and any possible issues or concerns related to the police reform initiative.
