As Senior Manager, Security and Operations you will:The incumbent will lead coordination of security preparedness and crisis response in line with TechnoServe's Duty of Care to its employees. In addition, operations-specific projects tailored to the needs of the organization and the interests of the employee will be undertaken on an ongoing or as-needed basis.
Security (75%)
Review TechnoServe's compliance with Duty of Care good practices. Develop and execute a plan from the existing foundation
Develop and maintain productive exchange with others in the NGO/International Community security community to remain current and exchange good practice and tools
Monitor security threats and proactively address needs in TechnoServe's country portfolio
Maintain active security program across countries of operation, with regular monitoring and communications with Security Focal Points (SFPs) and country leadership, as needed
Identify next steps, upgrades or other ongoing needs to fulfill organizational and environmental safety needs
Keep the TNS Security Steering Committee and broader leadership informed and arrange for convenings as needed, at least 3 times a year
Develop relationships with specialist security firms for retained capacity in new country security assessments, emergency response support, capacity building, tool development and dissemination and other key areas
Review and improve TechnoServe's security notification system; monitor and respond promptly to security reports as they arise and document resolutions
Review and approve security measures undertaken in non-presence and high-risk environments and security plans for TechnoServe Fellows and others
Lead the monitoring, update and compliance with travel security procedures
Maintain the Security section on my.tns.org, TechnoServe's internal communication portal
Develop, roll out and reinforce security training among staff Special Projects (25%) Projects will be crafted in keeping with broad remit of the COO, the unique skills, and interests of the individual and needs identified in the annual planning process. These projects will typically involve change management with leadership provided by the COO and involve coordination across divisions and departments. Projects may relate to areas such as local entity management, follow-up and management of internal audit findings, improvement in areas of budget and financial management, policy and practice development, program knowledge exchange and others.
You will have:
Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of experience in international development with substantial experience working in developing countries; or Master's Degree in Business, Development or related field with at least 5 years of same experience;
Proven interpersonal, listening, oral and written communication skills;
Experience with web-based and other evolving communications technologies;
Ability to work effectively across cultures and with junior and senior colleagues;
Familiarity with training using tested adult learning approaches a significant plus;
Demonstrated commitment to TechnoServe's mission and willingness to work in a non-profit environment;
Excellent judgment, organizational skills, and self-starting orientation;
Good detail orientation, strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
Capacity in Spanish highly preferred. French and/or Portuguese a plus;
