American K-9 Detection Services, LLC (AMK9) has been awarded contracts, and has pending contracts and positions. AMK9 is currently hiring experienced Narcotics and Explosives Single and Dual Purpose K-9 Handlers. These projects offer a competitive pay and compensation package.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handlers are responsible to the Kennel Master (KM) in all but not limited to the following duties:
Conduct daily kennel care for their assigned contract working dog (CWD) or conduct kennel care as directed by the Trainer. This includes maintaining assigned CWD’s diet.
Conduct daily health checks/grooming on assigned CWD.
Adhere to the daily duty roster and or training schedule, in the proper uniform and on time.
Conduct periodic checks on assigned CWD to ensure K-9 has adequate water.
Strictly adhere to AMK9's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) while working post.
Understand and comply with post instructions.
Properly maintain assigned K-9 equipment. Conduct periodic inspections to ensure equipment is safe and in good working condition.
Thoroughly know, apply and report response procedures. Document ALL K-9 responses that occur while working post. Immediately report to KM, generate necessary documentation.
Document training records daily. Ensure optimum patrol training schedule and required detector dog training hours are met on a weekly basis.
Other duties may be assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience as a K-9 handler.
Must have a minimum of 1 year additional security-related experience. (Military, Law Enforcement)
Must have valid passport or ability to obtain one.
Must have ability to pass background check – must not have any violent crime felonies, spouse or child abuse convictions
Able to recognize K-9 diseases and know the physical condition of their assigned K-9.
Successful candidates must be able to deploy at short notice.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The essential physical requirements include:
Dynamically lift (start at floor in static position and lift through task) an actual dog, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, weighing approximately 90 lbs. to a height up to 60”.
Dynamically lift an actual crate, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, with or without an actual dog or a reasonable facsimile, to a height up to 60”.
Dynamically lift an actual 40 lbs. dog food bag up to 30” and dump into a container.
Dynamically push an actual crate or a reasonable facsimile, with or without an actual dog or a reasonable facsimile, on a table, desk, or other flat surface.
Pull on a hand held dynamometer (equipped with pull tools) to measure the maximum pull force capabilities.
Carry an actual dog or a reasonable facsimile weighing up to 90 lbs. for a distance of 25’.
Kneel (on one or both knees) and squat for a sustained period up to at least one - two minutes.
While in a prone position, crawl forward for up to 25’.
Intermittently walk on a treadmill and stair master for 30 minutes. Rotate between the treadmill and stair master every 5 – 10 minutes changing speed and elevation. Additional Information:
