The Company and the Role:
Our client was established in 2005 to provide a range of professional and safe unexploded ordnance, mine clearance and ammunition related services to multinational companies, governmental and non-governmental organisations. To date, our client has successfully undertaken projects in Angola, DRC, Mali, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Togo, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Côte d`Ivoire and most recently, the Central African Republic.
Amongst the achievements, our client has cleared over 26 000 km of routes and roads, removed over 46,000 items of unexploded ordnance and safely destroyed over 290 tonnes of unserviceable and obsolete munitions

Key Features of the Role:
You will be part of a team of training EOD-IEDD specialists who will support a United Nations Mine Action Service program to provide aid to the country of Mali for addressing explosive threats.
You will conduct EOD training up to EOD Level 3 for MINUSMA EOD/IEDD Teams.
You will conduct EOD/C-IED awareness training for MINUSMA TCC countries.

You will conduct IEDD training for MINUSMA EOD/IEDD Teams.

You will supervise and mentor the deployment of MINUSMA EOD/IEDD Teams. This will include deploying with the teams on operational tasks to provide mentoring support and assurance of operating standards.

You will monitor and conduct internal QA on the MINUSMA EOD/IEDD Teams.

You will carry out on-going capacity building/development of the MINUSMA EOD/IEDD teams.

Finally, you will develop technical notes and course training packages.

Knowledge and Skills:

You will be a fully qualified IEDD Operator with substantial experience in EOD, IEDD and C-IED including operational experience within the last 3 years. Proof of qualification/certification from a recognised training centre will be required.

You should also have 18 months Instructor/Trainer and mentoring experience.

You should possess a good knowledge of IMAS standards as it pertains to development and implementation of EOD Level 1, 2, and 3, and IEDD operations and training.

You should have extensive experience of operating within recognized IEDD/EOD Standard Operating Procedures and in the use of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs).

You will have the ability to work with local nationals, interpreters, and UNMAS staff.

You will be able to work outside of normal schedule when required by Project Manager and project objectives.

The standard working week is Monday through Saturday.

You will be self-reliant, flexible and able to work independently.

You will be fluent in English, spoken and written, French speaking would be useful but not essential.

You must hold a valid international driver`s license.

You must be medically fit, mentally and physically robust to meet the challenge of operating in austere environments, harsh conditions and extremes of temperature.

You must have relevant medical inoculations and valid records, or be capable of obtaining relevant inoculations (including a yellow fever certificate, which is required for entry to Mali).

What`s on Offer:

The salary is US$9,000 per month and will be tax free. The R and R is 12 weeks on, 3 weeks off leave rotation.

Food and accommodation provided are provided free (central messing or Daily Subsistence Allowance depending on work location) as well as free flights to and from your home base whilst on R and R.

In addition, full accident and medical insurance is provided as well as Internet and Satellite TV. Work clothing and equipment are provided (less boots).
