Security Associate (Compound Security Guard Supervisor & Site Maintenance)

Job Purpose

To perform tasks related to the implementation and assessment of security measures and maintenance of equipment with a view towards providing updates and recommendations to facilitate informed decision-making and secure WFP staff, facilities and operations.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Contribute to the update of fire safety arrangements, plans for fire/building evacuation, relocation/evacuation of staff to a safe haven and efficient implementation of all these arrangements and plans;
Maintain Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) for facilities and equipment; Assist in developing and implementing MOSS and ensuring that all WFP offices are compliant;
Monitor the security service of a team of security guards and ensure continuous coverage of security check points at all times;
Assign daily duties to security guards; Intervene personally to resolve problems or refer them immediately to the supervisor;
Carry out continuous checks of security guards attendance, performance of duties and quality of services; Report any deficiencies or issues in the services and recommend possible improvements;
Assist in installation, maintenance and use and of all security equipment in the compound;
Provide instruction/training to security guards in the performance of security services, including fire control, first aid procedures, use of equipment and operation of the automated alarm and video surveillance systems; Operate metal detectors and other identification equipment for screening personal belongings;
Supervise the issuance of building passes and issue building passes; Prepare for the arrival of groups and special guests to WFP;
Assist in investigate and report on all incidents that involve a breach of security procedures, injuries, thefts, etc;
Liaise with Admin on allowing access for the all Sanitation workers into the compound and follow up on their work permits.
Liaising with Contractors through Admin and any other Companies for maintenance or installation equipment in the compound.
Follow up with ICT and UNDSS radio room on monthly basis regarding radio check and update the call sign list.
Carry out any other tasks as assigned by his first supervisor including field visits.







STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. University degree will be considered an asset.



Experience: At least five years of progressive responsible work as a military/police officer, or minimum of five years working experience in large companies/organization within security fields.



Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.



Knowledge and skills:
Specialized knowledge of the application of practical methods, techniques, procedures and systems used in security, typically gained through technical training and work experience.
Broad knowledge and understanding of security logistics, security administration, risk assessment and co-ordination with local authorities and local law enforcement agencies.
Training and experience in fire and related intervention/evacuation procedures.
Ability to manage emergency situations and remain calm.
Attention to detail and constant vigilance in order to promptly detect any breach in security measures.
Ability to interpret information, use judgement and inform supervisors of any incidents which might impact the UNWFP staff and operations.
Excellent communication skills in order to maintain frequent correspondence with both, internal staff and external authorities with regards to security advisories and security incidents.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE


Previous knowledge and experience within the UN Security Management System, Security Risk Analysis and UN Security report writing will be an added value.
Has gained sound knowledge of security operations technical processes.
Has provided technical guidance and training to security guards within area of expertise.
Has supported research and collation of data which feeds into reports that inform security activities
