Main Responsibilities:
The Safety and Security Coordinator will be under the responsibility and the line management of the HoM with the technical support of the Security Advisor at HQ level. They will also work very closely with the Field Coordinator and national Security Officer in Sana’a. Within the framework of developing and implementing an overall safety and security strategy in Yemen, he/she will be in charge of:
Conducting routine and formalised safety and security monitoring
Under the HoM, coordinating the overall safety and security management of the mission (staff and operations)
Ensuring compliance to the HI global risk management model
Coordination and implementation of safety and security capacity building and briefings
Reporting
Networking and Representation
SPECIFICITIES
The position is based in Sanaa – Yemen, but during the first part of the mission, the expatriate will be based in HI remote office in Amman, until his/her VISA for Yemen is approved,; the office in Amman is used as a back-up office for HI expatriates to follow-up the mission, until they can visit Yemen/between visits (depending on the type of Yemen visa secured).
REQUIRED PROFILE
Advanced level university degree; or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area.
Considerable and strong security planning and implementation work experience gained in the context of field relief operations in insecure areas.
Experience of working with INGOs preferably in a similar or senior management/operational role
Substantial experience of working in conflict-affected areas and of associated risks to personal and organisational security
Substantial experience in the development and implementation of safety and security management frameworks and protocols
Experience of conducting humanitarian/similar assessments and of providing analytical feedback and reports
Experience of working with teams of people with varying experience and understanding of security planning and management
Prior experience of working in Yemen/the region a strong asset
Good oral and written reporting skills in English
English mandatory (oral and written)
Arabic would be an asset
Excellent capacity building skills and ability to provide (basic-intermediate) security training to staff and colleagues
Good networking skills
Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
Proven excellence in communication and liaison skills
Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
Good communication and representational ability
Highly organised
A positive, solutions-oriented person
Ability to work under pressure and in response to changing needs
SALARY
Beginning : 28/08/17
Salary from 2,700€(gross/month) regarding the experience of the candidate
Perdiem (net/month) : 550€ for Yemen ; 674€ for Jordan
Hardship allowance(net/month) : 500€ for Yemen
Insurances : medical health coverage, retirement planning, repatriation
Paid holiday : 25 days per year
R&R : 5 days every 6 weeks for Yemen (in Grece) 1 day per month for Jordan
Status : Single in Sanaa ; couple/family possible in Amman
Housing : collective or individual
