The Director, Maritime Security serves as the Corporation’s subject matter expert on all security related policy and threat analyses. Core responsibilities include the development of Company security-related policies/procedures and managing the Global Maritime Security team composed of Regional Security Managers and Threat Analysts. The position also maintains direct oversight of the Company’s security intelligence activities, Port Vulnerability and Threat Assessments, Travel Risk Management program and the Security Officer Training Program. The Director, Maritime Security also chairs the Company’s Security Review Group, which is composed of Company Security Officers (CSOs) from each operating line.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide oversight and direction over all activities conducted by the Global Maritime Security team.
Maintain and further develop subject matter expertise on all maritime security issues.
Develop, refine, and improve Corporation Security procedures.
Conduct security briefings to senior company leadership as necessary.
Develop and issue security-related Advisory Notices as necessary.
Review and approve all Global Maritime Security assessments.
Oversee and coordinate Port Vulnerability and Threat Assessments as required by company policy.
Track, analyze and report on security-related incident rates across the Corporation.
Manage and oversee all security intelligence vendor relationships within MP&A.
Chair and coordinate Security Review Group meetings with the CSOs, in person and telephonically.
Serve as the Corporations’ representative and point of contact with various US Government and International Security Agencies and related Councils as well as the CLIA Security committee.
Develop and foster relationships with the US and host nation governments and security services in locations the Corporation operates.
Oversee the Corporation’s Security Officer Training Program in the Philippines.
Oversee the Corporation’s Travel Risk Management program and support business units with any necessary response to any global event(s) that impact Corporation travelers.
Provide security and analytical support to legal investigations, audits and CSOs.
Prepare for and brief executive management and/or the Board of Directors as directed.
Provide security advice and briefings for Board of Director meetings.
Provide security advice to the Corporation CEO as requested.
Account for and submit budgets for all Global Maritime Security spending to the Department Head.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A four year degree in an applicable field and significant work-related experience in law enforcement, corporate security, the intelligence community or a combination of the above. Maritime industry security experience strongly preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a security-related field to include at least 4 years’ service in law enforcement, maritime military and/or the intelligence community.
Experience conducting ship or port security inspections or audits.
Security and criminal-related investigations experience.
Experience operating overseas in foreign locations and working with foreign cultures.
Expertise in counter-terrorism, counter-intelligence and/or force protection.
Significant supervisory and/or managerial experience.
Experience writing analytical assessments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication skills; executive presence.
Strong network in the security field (ideally, maritime security).
The ability to manage a global team.
A self-starter with a proven track record of strategic thinking who identifies areas of concern, tasks due, areas for improvement, and then takes the necessary steps needed to correct, improve, or complete them.
Ability to solve-complex problems, making sound decisions with limited information.
High ethical/personal standards.
Self-confidence with a highly professional demeanor.
