Security Assistant , South Sudan

Main purpose of job:


To provide administrative support to the Post Security Officer and Overseas Security Manager.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Manage security inventories and equipment
Maintain and forge new contacts with security agencies including Diplomatic Protection Unit and other Diplomatic missions
Manage and record monthly payments to the Diplomatic Protection Unit
Conduct daily checks of Security (including alarm tests) at each accommodation plot reporting any issues to the OSM.
Assist the OSM in providing training for international and local staff members
Play an active role in Post Crisis Management preparation and training.
Assist as required in the familiarisation of international staff with Juba
Issue and maintain the store of Personal Protective Equipment
Issue radios as required to international and nominated local staff
Maintain the digital radio spares inventory
Conduct radio checks
Maintain the radio call sign list
Carry out regular checks of Satellite Phones recording any faults and liaising where necessary on payments for services.
Ensure that unserviceable equipment is subject to repair
Maintain the Telephone Tree
Assist the transport section in recording armoured vehicle records and submitting to Estates and Security Directorate as and when required.
Assist in the arrangement of VIP visits and representational functions.
Establish and maintain a South Sudan incident database
Maintain the Juba criminal incidents database and provide monthly reports on incidents.
Conduct the weekly Alarm test
Provide assistance to the FCO team as required.
Essential qualifications and experience

Proven administrative experience
Full, valid South Sudanese driving licence.
Good working knowledge of Juba and South Sudan
Computer literate. Including use of Microsoft Office
Team working skills
