Do you have substantial experience around the focal area of Conflict, Security and Violence (CSV) and are you looking for an exciting challenge? Are you a highly experienced Consultant able to provide strategic guidance in this area? Oxford Policy Management’s CSV Portfolio is recruiting!
Our successful CSV programmes are rooted in developing understanding around what does and doesn’t work in reducing violent conflict. We are currently implementing large-scale programmes research projects and evaluations.
We wish to build our team and are now seeking to recruit a Senior Consultant to respond to increasing demand from our government and donor clients.
If you worked with us here are some of the activities that you would have undertaken in the last month:
Undertaken a research study in conjunction with SOAS looking at the evidence for what interventions have been effective at preventing or mitigating armed violence in developing and middle-income countries.
Reviewed field data exploring drivers of conflict and stability as part of an ongoing evaluation in Somalia.
Attending a conference on extractive industries and development which brought together academics, experts, independent consultants, as well as private and public sector representatives.
Discussed drivers of fragility in Pakistan.
Developed and won a project in Northern Nigeria exploring schools capacity to promote conflict sensitive access to education.
Met with consortium partners to discuss a forthcoming opportunity focused on conflict research.
Travelled to Nigeria to work on an extractives reform programme that you manage.
Travelled to Kenya and Somalia to undertake data collection for an evaluation.
Successful applicants will have an excellent academic record including a degree and post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline. Candidates who have the ability to work in at least one foreign language and across other areas of OPM's work will be at an advantage.
As a guide, applicants will fit the following profile:
A significant career in international development, an internationally recognised expert and leader in the field with an excellent reputation.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of policy and institutional issues relating to CSV and an ability to apply this knowledge analytically and practically in an international consulting context.
Demonstrated experience to think strategically and execute exceptionally, translating analysis into winning ideas/proposals, action and advocacy.
Demonstrated ability to conceive and manage complex, large-scale initiatives in the field of reform in one or more areas related to CSV. Ability and experience in managing multiple objectives in a dynamic environment.
Significant leadership experience working with governments, development agencies, organisations and think-tanks at the highest levels
The role is full time and permanent based in our office in central Oxford however, applicants should be willing to undertake work-related travel to Africa, Asia and other international locations, which may be significant.
