For our headquarters in Germany/Eschborn we are looking for a Security Risk and Crisis Manager (m/f)

Field of Activity
The Corporate Security Department is the central unit dealing with questions concerning personnel security. It coordinates the GIZ crisis management team in events of crisis and severe security incidents in its partner counties. The department advises GIZ senior management in regards to the establishment and maintenance of security risk management systems in the partner countries as well as specific mitigation measures. It develops security risk management policies and guidelines, addresses principal questions, documents and communicates travel advice and compiles security risk assessments, both regionally and globally. Within the scope of its prevention and preparedness efforts as well as crisis management, the department closely cooperates with COPE, the GIZ psycho-social support unit. The regional focus of this position lies on African countries, and in particular on countries in francophone Africa.

Your tasks
Technical enhancement of GIZ Security Risk Management
Advisory support to regional departments regarding the integration of security risk management into programmes and projects
Quality control of existing security risk management systems in the partner countries
Advisory support to GIZ country offices regarding GIZ Security Risk Management
On request, direct advisory support via missions to partner countries
Advisory support regarding all matters related to travel safety as well as the establishment of security networks with national and international interlocutors

Your profile
Master’s Degree in security, risk, crisis and disaster management, peace and conflict studies, political science, area studies or another relevant field
Depending on specific studies, further training in security risk or crisis management is an asset
Comprehensive professional experience in security risk management of development, humanitarian and/ or international organisations in fragile contexts is required.
Experience in crisis management and the establishment and implementation of security concepts
Ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations as well as high frustration tolerance
Excellent communication and advisory skills, which allow you to explain the relevance of the security risk management to both internal and external stakeholders
Fluency in French and good German and English language skills are an absolute must.
