Chemonics seeks a Security management unit (SMU) associate to support the Middle East Regional Business Unit (RBU). The SMU associate is responsible for ensuring that sound management principles and tools are employed in the operations of the SMU and in the implementation of its work. In this capacity the associate will address needs related to supporting the regional project management units, liaise with external clients and contractors, and handle internal operational issues to include backstopping and support of field security staff. Responsibilities include:
Prepare weekly reports covering regional security events and trends affecting Chemonics programs and staff in the Middle East region
Schedule and draft agendas for SMU team meetings and stakeholder meetings. Brief and prepare background materials for meetings with the Regional Project Management Units (PMUs)
Coordinate with regional PMUs on staff fielding processes, phone tracking and coordination, gathering and archiving security assessments, emergency action plans, and reports from the field teams


Support and communicate with field security team. Research and recommend solutions to resolve a variety of field office issues, including personnel and financial matters, as appropriate


Provide basic technical security information to support projects, new business efforts, Chemonics’ knowledge base, practice networks, and other work products, as requested by supervisor and colleagues


Liaise with home-office support departments on contract-related procurements, accounting, personnel, publications, travel, and other issues to offer recommendations to the Global Safety and Security Department (GSSD)


Use judgment and understanding of Chemonics policies and relevant contract and legal regulations to process expense reports, and complete required internal forms


Participate in security conferences and professional networking events to develop and expand contacts within the non-governmental organizations security community


Provide support for new business efforts through security purchase order development, and invoice collection and review


Participate on proposal teams to provide research, writing, costing, coordination and administrative support to proposals, subcontractor administrative liason, and/or other marketing materials produced by the new business unit


Communicate information in a way that demonstrates a basic understanding of development assistance work, Chemonics’ culture, values, and practices, and the specific scope and nature of project and proposal assignments

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of work experience required
Minimum 1 year of work experience
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
Willingness to travel and work abroad in less developed countries that are medium to high threat environments for at least 4-8 weeks per year required
Experience living or working in developing countries preferred
Strong administrative skills, word processing abilities, and attention to detail
Ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision on work progress, and make significant contribution to end results
Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills preferred
Proficiency in Arabic and/or French preferred
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
