Qualifications:
 
Conditions of Employment:
 
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties including conducting lengthy foot patrols and/or climbing stairs in a high rise building, and working in all weather conditions.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
 
Essential:
 
  • Completion of an accredited security training program with experience in security or law enforcement.  An appropriate combination of directly related training and experience may be considered.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience in writing incident reports, maintain a daily log book and personal notebook.
  • Experience and proficiency working with computer applications and software, specifically Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word).
  • Knowledge of Security practices, principles and related legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and persuasively with all levels of Government personnel, general public, law enforcement, etc.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative including ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated good judgement and problem solving skills, and ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.
 
Desired:
 
  • Demonstrated experience providing supervision of staff.
 
 
Duties:
Reporting to the Rural Security Manager, the Supervisor, Security Services supervises and directs Protective Services Officers within the program areas. The Protective Service Supervisor by virtue of authority gained through applicable Legislative Acts, preserves and maintains the public peace in/on all governments facilities, including the enforcement of parking violations as defined under The Public Works Act P300 and it Regulations. The Protective Services Supervisor works a rotating 24 hour/7 day shift schedule and provides security services for all government buildings and associated grounds, towards prevention of accidental damage, vandalism, illegal intrusion and/or other occurrences such as theft, unauthorized use of property, etc., in association  with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and building maintenance staff.
