Personal Security Specialist / Designated Defensive Marksman

NOTICE: Additionally, employment is based on customer approval, security clearance, background investigation, drug screening results, medical requirements, physical fitness, and system specific qualifications and experience levels.

Job Description:
Perform as long-range defensive marksman.
The PSS/DDM shall be designated as PSS (P).
The PSS/DDM is required to attend the protective security specialist (PSS) training course and the Defensive Marksman course as outlined in Exhibit E.

The PSS/DDM must maintain weapons qualifications as outlined in this contract, for the Glock, M4 (current; within the last 90 days), Shotgun, M240, M249 and M203 and the M24 or SR25 as issued and familiarization fire for the AK47.
PSS/DDM vetted personnel are authorized to permanently fill the Labor Categories of PSS and PSS/DDM in case of shortages with the approval from HTP.
Provide services as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizen
Level 3 English proficiency
Valid current U. S. passport
Must meet PSS qualifications
Must provide evidence of a current minimum M4qualifications of 95% (285 out of 300) or better on a DoS qualification course of fire within the last 90 days
Must have graduated and possess evidence of completion of a sniper/DDM sharpshooter program issued by a military, law enforcement, or security (government or private sector) training program of suitable complexity and quality to adequate prepare the graduate for successful performance as a WPS DDM, (e.g., USMC Scout Sniper, Special Operations Target Interdiction, FBI HRT/SWAT, DSS MSD, State Police Sharpshooter, NYPD Police Sharpshooter, etc.
Must have served in a DDM role for one (1) year
Must be full time law enforcement SWAT Sniper experience(Not SWAT as a collateral duty)
Must be in good physical condition on the DSS physical fitness test per 3 FAM 1975.1
Selection Guidelines for Designated Defensive Marksman

General:
DS management and DS team leaders must carefully screen candidates:
Requires a high degree of motivation.
Ability to learn and maintain a variety of skills while sustaining PSD / PSS skills. Selection Requirements.
Marksmanship:
Advanced knowledge/skills of rifle marksmanship are requisite, preferably .30 caliber or higher.
Advance knowledge/sills of rifle marksmanship will include a minimum of 600 yard qualification, ability to read wind, trace and hit movers.
Shall provide evidence of minimum M4 Qualification of 95% (285 out of 300) or better on the DS qualification course of fire.
Physical Condition / Characteristics.
Should be in good physical condition. Must qualify “good” on the DSS physical fitness test per 3 FAM 1975.1.
Undesirable Physical Characteristics (but not “show stoppers”):
Wearing Eye-Glasses (can cause glare or might be broken)
Smoking (smoke can be seen and smelled and abstinence might cause needless uneasiness / shaking)
Left-Handed (requires excess motion to operate the bolt)

Mental Condition:
Must be able to cope with anxiety and remorse.
Must be decisive, self-reliant; use good judgment and common sense.
Must be composed under stress (equanimity).
Must possess emotional balance and maturity.
Must show positive and favorable results from the Minnesota Multi-Phasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) test.
Must show positive and favorable results from the Meyer Briggs Test.
Must show favorable results from a psychiatric history mental status examination.
Field Craft /Skills
Must show an understanding of PRS advances and site assessments.
Must show an understanding of the principles of individual and team movement.
Must have a sound grasp of Close Quarters Battle (CQB) techniques for clearing / occupying sites.
Designated Marksmanship TrainingPurpose: To impart basic DS defensive long-range marksmanship skills and employment techniques.
Training Objectives: students must perform the following:
One shot engagement of a stationary target out to 800 yards.
One shot engagement of a moving target out to 600 yards.
One shot engagement of a moving “stop-and-go” target out to 700 yards.
One shot engagement of a “bobbing” target out to 800 yards.
Judging distance to 1,000 yards with +/- 10% error (range estimation).
Using maps and aerial photos to select routes of advance and positions / labor categories.
Observing, collecting, and reporting information/intelligence data.
Selecting, occupying, and preparing Final Firing (FFP).
Deploy as a Designated Defensive Marksman (DDM) team.
