Centre for Safety and Development (CSD) is a non-profit foundation specialised in safety and security for humanitarian and development organisations worldwide. We believe that sharing security knowledge and skills enables other humanitarian organisations to work in unsafe areas in order to reduce human suffering and bring about a better world.
For our office in Amersfoort we are looking for a:
Security advisor (20 hours per week)

As our security advisor you will mainly advise CSD’s partners in developing and improving their safety and security policies and plans. You will do this by working on a one to one relationship with NGOs. Besides this, you are responsible for the development and implementation of security within CSD. Within your work you always strive to the highest quality.
Key responsibilities and activities:
  • Develop security policies for a large range of (international) NGOs
  • Develop field security plans and provide security briefings
  • Develop Crisis Management training scenarios
  • Stay up to date of international developments in the field of safety and security
  • Represent CSD in relevant security meetings
  • Support training courses and workshops
Who are we looking for?
  • You have a Master’s degree in logistics, security management, humanitarian action, international relations or a related field.
  • You have at least 5 years experience in the field of safety and security, either profit or non profit.
  • You have minimum 3 years experience managing safety & security in volatile contexts.
  • You have strong analytical capabilities and are a good writer.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
  • You enjoy working with strong and committed teams. You like the challenge of helping clients find ways to improve the safety and security culture within their organisation.
  • You are comfortable explaining complex policies & procedures in simple non-technical terms.
  • You can host a workshop and can train team members to improve their skills.
  • Your work style builds trust and calmness within the team.
  • You see opportunities for (potential) clients.
  • You will regularly travel within the Netherlands and on occasion in (high) risks international areas.
  • You are honest, intelligent and hardworking.

What do we offer?

We offer a six month contract with the intention of extension of this contract. You will be part of a small and dedicated team. We work in an international environment of nonprofit organisations operating around the globe. Our salaries are based on the collective agreement of the charity sector. Your working hours are flexible.
