Job SummaryThe incumbent conducts inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of unclassified technical security equipment and devices. Assists with projects and implementation of technical

Supervise outside contractors and provide quality checks on work being completed. Provide institutional knowledge during transition seasons, and train incoming Security Technicians

Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent conducts inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of unclassified technical security equipment and devices. Assists with projects and implementation of technical security systems as directed by the STS or OIC/ESC. This will encompass all areas and facilities throughout the Kabul Embassy compounds, surrounding USG Camps, Consulate Herat, Mazar-E-Sharif and occasional visits within the South Central Asia region. Qualification

VA 14-100 Full Performance Level:
Education: Completion of a two-year diploma in electronics, electrical technology, mechanical technology or Information Technology from an accredited U.S. or overseas institution or equivalent military training school is required.
Experience: Two years of experience with electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or hydraulic systems such as: closed circuit television, alarm systems, public address and vehicle arrest systems, or any applicable technical system is required.

VA 14-100T - Trainee Level:
Education: Completion of a two-year diploma in electronics, electrical technology, mechanical technology or Information Technology from an accredited U.S. or overseas institution or equivalent military training school is required.
Experience: One year of experience with electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or hydraulic systems such as: closed circuit television, alarm systems, public address and vehicle arrest systems, or any applicable technical system is required.

Language: Level III of English and Level IV Dari and is required.
Knowledge: Incumbent must have some knowledge of the operation of computers and word processing software (Microsoft Office, Corel, Word, Excel or Lotus Notes). All reporting will be done electronically. Knowledgeable in minor construction

Abilities and Skills: Must be able to apply knowledge in the installation and maintenance of security equipment. Must be able to read blueprints and schematic diagrams of electrical and mechanical systems. Ability to use electronic test equipment. Should be able to use his knowledge and skills to rectify problems associated with security equipment independently and direct other technicians to do the same.

The position has been approved for substitution, for one year of experience in lieu of one year of higher education.

Skills

Must be able to apply knowledge in the installation and maintenance of security equipment. Must be able to read blueprints and schematic diagrams of electrical and mechanical systems. Ability to use electronic test equipment. Should be able to use his knowledge and skills to rectify problems associated with security equipment independently and direct other technicians to do the same.

Language(s) required

Level III of English and Level IV Dari and Pashtu is required.
