Are you passionate about security and protecting customers? At Atlassian we are searching for an experienced Manager to lead our Security Intelligence team.

Job Description:
You are responsible for building and managing the Atlasssian Security Intelligence function, leading a team of exceptional security analysts in obtaining, analysing and dealing with security data. In this role, you will identify and investigate suspicious activity, automate and solve complex security challenges.

Key Results Areas:

Execute: Together with their team, deliver a world class security intelligence program, driven by automation.


People: Mentor, manage and grow their team to ensure people are playing to their strengths and clearly understand their role within and value to Atlassian.


Contribute: Be a key part of the security planning process and advocate for pragmatic security approaches


Act as a liaison between industry peers, government agencies (including law enforcement) and other specialists.


Utilise intelligence providers to gain insight into existing activities in the hacker and fraudster communities, as well as planned activities and emerging motivations.


Advise the Head of Security of significant emerging threats, and recommend tactical steps to counteract these threats.


Define requirements for operational security monitoring


Implementation and management of platforms to provide SIEM and auditing functions


Security auditing of Atlassian systems and IT operations


Analysis of threats and 3rd party alerts, and incorporate into the Intelligence platform.


Incident Management coordination, communications and response


Timely production and coordination of Security Alerts for Atlassian product vulnerabilities


Supervises:
3-4 Security Analysts who may be located in other offices


Main Activities:
Security Intelligence


Analyse and alert on security events affecting Atlassian and its customers.


Develop automation to support scale and rapid response to threats.


Develop effective work procedures, including security incident handling


Maintain and support Atlassian systems used in the Security Intelligence function


Work with security partners to demonstrate ongoing security in Atlassian to external and internal stakeholders


Capture key events and report on industry trends that influence the Atlassian security direction


Respond to and investigate malware and intrusions.

Security Leadership


Develop strategies to ensure we can support Quality@Speed in the area of Atlassian security.


Engage with other Team Leads, both on their product team and across Atlassian to ensure experiences are shared and teams work collaboratively when required.


Work with the Head of Security and other stakeholders to define metrics and reporting strategies that effectively communicate successes and progress of the security program.

Team Leadership


Build the security intelligence team


Collaborate with the Head of Security to develop a security program and security projects that address identified risks and business security requirements.


Collaborate with the Head of Security to develop budget and Head Count projections based on short- and long-term goals and objectives.


Manage a staff of security professionals, hire and train new staff, conduct performance reviews, and provide leadership and coaching, including technical and personal development programs for team members.


To hold regular 1-1's with their team members to provide a vehicle for team members to discuss issues and concerns outside of their regular development activities.


To champion, and lead by example, the effective use of 20% time and ShipIt within their team.

B.S. Computer Science or equivalent work experience


Relevant work experience with CSIRT and security monitoring


Extensive understanding of data analysis techniques


Strong understanding of IP networking, Security analysis, and threats


Passionate about security, and protecting our company and customers


An ability to relate security to business expectations


Extensive knowledge of current Internet security issues and best practices.


Strong analytical skills to analyse security requirements and relate them to appropriate security issues and opportunities.


Proficiency in performing risk, business impact, control and vulnerability assessments, and in defining management strategies.


A strong understanding of the business impact of security tools, technologies and policies.


Strong leadership skills, with the capability to develop and guide team members, and work with minimal supervision.


Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively within the organisation, application development teams, management.


An excellent understanding of security concepts, protocols, industry best practices and strategies.
