MAG is seeking a Technical Operations Manager for our programme in Chad, where we have been working intermittently since 2004. Key achievements to date have included the clearance of more than 818,142m2 of dangerous land and the destruction of 7,336 items of UXO. The range of our work to date has included
clearance of UXO, minefields, BAC, EOD rapid response, Mine Risk Education and technical survey. Our current operations are focused in Northern and Eastern Chad

As the senior technical representative in-country, you will lead, oversee and safely manage all aspects of mine clearance and EOD operations, as well as manage a team of international and national technical staff. Reporting to the Country Director, you will provide technical input into proposals and reports, liaise with donors and the UN and continue to build good relationships with government agencies, such as the Chad National Demining Centre.

The post holder will be managing projects and staff across geographically diverse and extremely challenging sites. The scale of the country and division of sites make for a diverse range of operating environments and a number of management challenges. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to be strong team player with excellent management skills. A patient, tactful and diplomatic approach will be required.

The post-holder will be required to spend the majority of time in N'djamena in order to liaise with official stakeholders; however there will also be a significant amount of time spent travelling to field locations. Regional experience would be a distinct advantage.

Fluency in French is essential for this role.

Accommodation: MAG will also provide accommodation in-country.

Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of eight weeks out of the programme per year and your entitlement to leave rises with service.
