Purpose Of The Job:The Senior Protection Services Officer supports the Protection Services Coordinator to manage resources and investigate breaches of security.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• B-Tech Security Management Diploma or equivalent qualification at NQF level 5;
• At least 10 years Security experience in a mining environment;
• Police service experience will be advantageous;
• Experienced in crime investigation and protection best practices;
• Firearm certificate for handgun / shotgun;
• Grade A - certification with PSIRA.
Job Responsibilities:
• Initiate and manage appropriate systems to minimize risks relating to the security of employees and assets;
• Criminal / internal Investigation;
• Cultivation of informers network;
• Coordination of surveillance / CCTV;
• Asset Protection;
• ITC Checks;
• SHE compliance;
• Day to day control of Contract security sub-ordinates and planning of work;
• Manage protection services resources and investigate breaches of mine policies and procedures;
• Identify risks relating to the security of employees and assets;
• Industrial action handling;
• Access Control;
• Assisting / coordinating veld fires.
Competencies and requirements:
• Computer literate (ability to use MS Office programmes specifically regarding report writing);
• Ability to communicate well in English;
• Valid driver’s licence;
• Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket);
• Sound knowledge of CCTV and alarm systems;
• Contractor management / be able to manage outsourced security contract;
• Knowledge in protection systems and processes.
