Security Manager - North Africa (Global Energy Company)

Location: EMEA - Algeria, Libya or Tunisia
Qualification
Working for a global energy company, the post is accountable for influencing the decisions and leadership views across the North African region (NAF). This includes relationships with the Region, GMs, Product Lines and Country management teams, plant and manufacturing site security personnel in the area. The post holder is responsible for maintaining security programs and developing the skills
of the security team throughout their area of operation. He/she will manage and oversee several security contracts and supervise third party led investigations and inquiries.

The incumbent supports a diverse and dispersed business located in 5+ countries. The security exposures could be in the millions of dollars and could create catastrophic events, if security risks such as community unrest, insurgency, fraud, violent crime, embezzlement, terrorist activity, etc. and crisis management programs are not properly managed.

Primary Accountabilities
The principal role of the Security Manager is to advise businesses on the management of security in line with the Security Management System and Security Policy in order to assist them in their regular assessment and effective management of security exposures. The role covers the following areas:
• Risk Assessment Activities and Security Programs
• Investigative Activities
• Analytical Activities
• Security Awareness & Training Activities
• Crisis Action & Emergency Response Activities
• Executive Protection Activities
• Relationships

Major Objectives
• Obtain appropriate knowledge of business operations to ensure “fit for purpose” security measures are in place to protect the liabilities and interest of the company
• Conduct security vulnerability assessments, surveys and other security assessments to measure and develop risk profiles of facilities and operations within the businesses supported. Implement security measures to manage and mitigate security exposures and risks.
• Design, implement and assist in managing site security programs within NAF to ensure the quality, levels and standards of the services are in the best fiscal interest of the company.
• Maintain continual contact with the business leadership to proactively monitor changes in business practices that have a potentially adverse affect on their risk/threat profiles.
• Ensure security programs and asset protection levels remain aligned to manage the threat and support their business goals.
• Provide security assurance to GM/Country management and the Regional Security Director, by reporting and tracking incidents through the incident reporting system, providing risk mitigation measures and incident management procedures.
• Develop annual security plans, metrics, scorecards, and present relevant information to region and country management at their quarterly business reviews, or as requested.
• Supervise and assist with the professional development of less-experienced team members throughout the area of responsibility.
• Share and promote the Security guidelines policy and organizational philosophy.

Qualifications & Skills
• Fluent in English and preferably has Arabic and/or French.
• Experienced investigator, to include financial investigations and due diligence investigations.
• Specific knowledge of security system technologies to include knowledge of available security related hardware and software.
• Experience with crisis/emergency response management.
• Liaison experience with national, state and local law enforcement, government regulatory agencies and private industrial security.
• Demonstrates the ability to develop and enhance security programs.
• Effective influencing, presentation and facilitation skills.
• Ability to communicate complex and sensitive situations to various levels of the organization and external environments.
• Ability to exercise effective independent judgment and take appropriate action.
