INSO is the new global charity dedicated exclusively to issues of humanitarian safety and to the operation of NGO Safety Offices in violent or insecure contexts. INSO Afghanistan (a.k.a. ANSO) aims to support security awareness and security management capabilities amongst NGOs across the country.

We are now seeking an experienced individual to join our Afghanistan team as a Regional Safety Analyst (RSA). RSAs may be based in one of five field offices - Kabul, Jalalabad, Herat, Kandahar, Mazar – and candidates should be willing to accept any posting.

The RSA leads the delivery of INSO’s services in his/her area of responsibility and will combine strong safety management experience with a keen analytical talent and deep understanding of NGO principles and approaches.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
-Establish and maintain an active information source network including amongst NGOs, the UN, armed forces, and other national and international security actors to obtain credible and relevant information.
-Provide NGOs with timely and credible security information and a contextual analysis of the local security situation.
-Write comprehensive bi-weekly reports on the security context as it relates to NGOs, and produce daily incident reports and flash threat warnings as appropriate.
-Facilitate weekly NGO security round tables, presenting trends and facilitating discussions.
-Assist NGOs to develop their own security management capacities by reviewing policy, conducting site-security surveys, and assisting in evacuation and crisis management.
-Manage a small operational team. This includes supervising national staff and oversight of some local logistics and administration.
-Effectively represent, promote and protect INSO mandate for independence, impartiality and neutrality to all stakeholders.

Mandatory Requirements: (Applicants MUST have all these)
/1.) Fluent in English language (written and spoken) /2.) Graduate level education (BA/BSc or equivalent military college) in relevant field. /3.) Minimum 2 years experience working in an insecure/post conflict environment. /4.) Proven writing and analytical skills (sample requested) /5.) Familiarity with the philosophy, priorities and principals of NGOs and NGO approaches to security. /6.) Ability to develop and maintain culturally and socially diverse relationships and contacts.

Preferred Characteristics: (Applicants may or may not have these)
/1.) One, or more, years experience in Afghanistan (in any capacity) /2.) Employment history that reflects experience in both security and civilian fields. /3.) Experience with NGO security and/or project management. /4.) Existing information networks and/or local language skills. /5.) Special skills (such as first aid, training, EOD etc)
