The U.S. Liaison Officer (LNO) to the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU) is the primary point of contact for the US Department of State (DoS) Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) and CoESPU. The LNO on a daily basis reports to the CoESPU Director for the Center’s official relations
with external entities. The Director may delegate this responsibility to the Deputy or to the Chief of the Studies and Researches Department. Specific responsibilities include facilitating contacts and promote cooperation between the parties (the US DoS and the CoESPU), mainly exchanging relevant information (compliant with Italian and U.S. security regulations), keeping the same parties updated on the evolution on the CoESPU project.

Manage all the relevant aspects connected with the selection of candidates to GPOI–funded courses/activities. Provide inputs/suggestions for enhancing GPOI–related courses and activities. Deliver training in relevant matters, with particular reference to the execution of table top and command post exercises. Facilitate relations with relevant international organizations. Provide support to the Director of the CoESPU on administrative–related aspects connected with the U.S. funding of activities. Oversee Leahy vetting requirements for U.S. funded students. Work location is Vicenza, Italy.

Required Education:
18+ years with HS or 14+ years with AA or 12+ years with BS or 10+ years with MS.Required Skills:
- Possess a military or police background, at the Lieutenant Colonel (O-5) level or equivalent, with command and staff experience and full understanding of military/police forces United Nations peacekeeping employment and training at the managerial level.
- Knowledge of the CoESPU project, and relevant mechanisms/procedures in the area of peacekeeping (especially those involving external organizations and partner/contributing countries).
- Experience with United Nations.
- Department of Peacekeeping Operations’ systems procedures, Formed Police Units, related training and employment.
- Strong managerial, organizational, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Ability to relocate to Vicenza, Italy. Preferred Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in International Relations, Foreign Affairs or related field.
- Functional verbal, listening and written Italian language capabilities.
- National or international Senior Staff College or other equivalent Senior Management Course.
- Attendance at high-level courses in planning, civil aspects of crisis management or other relevant national and/or international education and training, related to international crisis management.
