ACOTA Peace Support Operations Tank and Mechanized Trainer

Description
The Peace Support Operations (PSO) Tank and Mechanized Trainers shall plan, develop and conduct pre-deployment PSO tank and mechanized training to African military units receiving U.S. Department of State’s African Contingency Operations Training Assistance (ACOTA) Program training. This position is for temporary work of limited duration.

Training will include at a minimum:
Conduct live firing of the tank main and co-axial guns and mounted APC weapons for the purpose of orientation, safety, accuracy and fire discipline.
Include training for tank and APC fire support and unit logistics in support of the two battalions in African Mission to Somalia (AMISOM).
Provide training on vehicle operation and preventive maintenance.
Include training on combined arms and mechanized tactics in support of convoy and infantry operations in AMISOM.
Include training on firing APC mounted weapons.
Include training on firing individual weapons from moving APC.

PSO Trainers shall be responsible for ensuring development of POIs, lesson plans, and training support packages for individual and collective training as noted in each ACOTA Program Office (APO) task order. Training shall support the preparation of ACOTA partner country soldiers for the rigors of sustained PKO in Africa. PSO Trainers shall ensure all training scenarios are based on the most current mission area information from Areas of Operation that African PKO battalions and brigades will deploy to. Training will involve classroom and field instruction in austere environments. All classes are to be taught in the language of the Host Nation Military.

Qualifications
The PSO Tank and Mechanized Trainer shall have a unique blend of skills, experience, and knowledge that will allow that individual to best support the goals and tasks of the ACOTA Program. Minimum of five (5) years of U.S. military operations and training experience (or civilian equivalent) in a Combat Arms Specialty required with a strong background in overseas program operations focused on training local national military personnel and units preferred. PSO Tank and Mechanized Trainers should be subject matter experts in at least one Combat Arms U.S. Military Occupational Specialty, specifically either 11 series with mechanized infantry experience or 19 series (or other US service equivalent). Preferably an individual with recent U.S. Military combat and/or PKO experience at the O-2 to O-4 or E-5 to E-9 level. Experience operating in areas with limited life cycle support and in hardship conditions preferred. Recent OIF/OEF experiences desired.
