Job Scope
The Security and Operations Manager ensures management and leads all aspects of the protective security service for the client. The job holder provides direction, control, guidance and leadership over all security staff and security officers as assigned by security the management team.
The Security Operations Manager reports directly to the Senior Security Manager.
The Security Operations Manager has Team Leaders directly reporting into him.
Principal accountabilities
Operations Management:
• Through subordinate team leaders and supervisors, coordinate and implement site security operations, and activities to ensure the continued protection and preservation of the security and safety of residents, guests, visitors and staff.
• Liaises, when appropriate, with residents and department heads to ensure adequate security services are planned and provided for as required.
• When necessary initiate investigations at the request of the Senior Management team.
• Monitors prescribed security officer duties and responsibilities, visiting assigned personnel, reviewing patrol activity via reports and ensuring adequate coverage.
• Monitors duties of the control room staff which will encompass knowledge and accountability of the crisis management program and all reporting processes.
• Continual Liaison with police, civil defence and medical services.
• Performs additional requirements as directed or identified by security management.
Administration:
• Ensures that all policies, procedures and practices are being effectively carried out and the management structure is kept updated where necessary.
• Reviews and vetting of all reports prior to central collation and onward reporting administration.
• Maintains investigation case files and manage all follow up action with the relevant authorities.
• On own Initiative or under direction, provide input into security related information including but not limited to, procedural updates, changes in post orders and instructions and the approval of shift and duty rosters.
• Vet and pass on for approval all staff leave applications and personnel administrative requirements in liaison with HR and in accordance with HR policies. etc.
• Oversees and identifies operational requirements for additional support equipment and services for the security operation.
• Any additional requirements as directed or identified by security management.
Team Management:
• Manages and monitors all security personnel in respect of the day-to-day operations and organizes training for all security personnel and providers.
• Ensures the recruitment, management and training of security personnel according to best practices and standards.
• Mentors UAE Nationals within the department.
• Anticipates issues, prioritize and plan personal & team efforts to ensure completion within set deadlines.
• Delegates work with clear work instructions; provides performance feedback to team members.
• Conducts monthly review and checks performance of staff and effectiveness.
• Reviews manpower deployment in the team to ensure adequate staffing.
• Conducts monthly meetings with Team Leaders for performance reviews, highlights the key issues and resolves inter departmental issues.
• Conducts monthly meetings with all the ground staff to brief on company’s performance, upcoming activities and ensures company’s expectations are met.
• Conducts appraisals for the team members and provides feedback as necessary.
Analysis and Reports:
• Assists the Senior Manager-Security on review of annual budgetary work plan and manpower plan.
• Provides inputs in preparation and review of KPI & MBO in a quarterly basis.
• Provides input/prepares report on a weekly basis for management meeting.
Adherence to Company Policy and Procedure:
• Ensures attendance in accordance with the roster.
• Behaves in line with the Code of Conduct Policy.
• Acts in line with the Health, Safety & Security procedures.
• Adheres to the applicable company policies and procedures.
Training Function:
• Ensures refresher training and on-site training is conducted on a continual basis
• Ensures any shortage of knowledge is high-lighted to Training Coordinator
• Ensures that any changes to operations that have immediate impact are properly instructed to the staff and documented.
Requirements
Qualifications and Competencies
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline / industry.
• A minimum of 5 years experience working within a similar position within the United Arab Emirates or a minimum of 10 years service in a similar position within a foreign military or law enforcement agency.
• Minimum 3 years in Supervisory role.
• Excellent communication skills with a high proficiency in English and desirably a working knowledge of Arabic.
• Handle conflicts or challenging situations confidently.
• Provide rational input in negotiations.
• Provide coaching, feedback and on the job training when needed.
• Utilize available resources effectively.
• Highly motivated and competent individual
• Membership or affiliation to a recognised international security organisation is preferable.
• High level of numerical understanding.
• Ability to set goals in line with the company’s objectives.
• Ability to handle work pressure and delivers expected performance.
• Ability to handle conflicts or challenging situations confidently.
• Ability to provide rational input in negotiations.
• Ability to provide coaching, feedback & on the job training when needed.
• Ability to utilize resources effectively.
