Forward Observer / Mortar Trainer

Description
Indirect Fire Support SME Serves as a Orward Observer and Mortar OC in order to teach, coach, and mentor a Mortar Section Leader with the following:
Reconnaissance party and conduct of reconnaissance of routes and positions.
Supervision of movements, as required and split operations.
Emplacement of the mortars for firing, when required.
Situation maps are maintained in the FDC.
Meteorological data is applied to firing data, when appropriate.
Test firing and zeroing of weapons and boresighting of mortars.
Communication nets are established and personnel use proper radiotelephone operating procedures. - Platoon personnel are trained in their primary job assignments and cross trained to perform key functions within the FDC.
Basic load and platoon equipment are on hand.
Ammunition expenditures and ensures ammunition records are maintained.
Submission of timely ammunition resupply requests.
Ammunition prestockage, when used.
Maintenance is actively supervised by subordinate leaders.
Coordination POL resupply and maintenance support.
Conduct of hasty crater analysis and submits SHELREPs and MORTREPs.
Ensures that aiming circles are declinated properly.
Ensures that all necessary safety, borescope, and pullover gauge inspections are performed and recorded.
Conducts Platoon-level AAR.
Coordinating fire support (lethal and non-lethal) and field artillery assets.
Develop with the company commander a concept of fires to support the operation.
Supervising platoon fire support NCOs.
Participation of the targeting process.
Maintaining of current and future operations maps as they pertain to fire support.
Maintaining status of missions fired and planned.
Maintaining accurate status of FS assets, to include Close Combat Air and Close Air Support.
Monitoring and maintenance of current ammo status for mortars and artillery.
Coordination with higher and lower FSE for additional assets/fire coordination measures.
Conduct of the Fire Support Rehearsal.
Writing of Annex D (Fire Support) and prepared fires products, to include the Scheme of Fires Sketch and Matrix, Target List Worksheet, and Fires Overlay.
Qualifications
Progressive responsible work experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Creditable specialized experience may include previous military service in the field of IN, FA, AR, SF or qualified through like experience as determined by the Program Manager.
Prefer former SFC and above, Army/USMC.
Prefer Ranger and or Special Forces operational experience
CTC experience preferred.
Familiar with training development, design, execution and certification processes.
