Emergency response roles - Syria region

We work together, with our partners, to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.In response to the situation in Syria, Save the Children is working in Syria’s neighbouring countries including Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq. If access to Syria increases then we would also scale up operations in that country.

We are currently looking to recruit a number of experienced emergency professionals who are either1) available within one to two months for deployment in the Region. The selection process for this group will be fast tracked. 2) available later who we can place on a Roster for deployment if access to Syria opens up.
Postings will be for up to 12 months. These recruitments are subject to funding.

We are interested in hearing from you if you have previous experience and skills gained in an emergency context in one of the following areas:

- Team Leaders
- Deputy Team Leaders
- Field Managers
- Nutrition Technical Advisers and Managers with experience in management of malnutrition and Infant and Young Child Feeding programs
- Health Technical Advisers and Managers
- Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL) Technical Advisers and Managers with experience in a variety of FSL interventions including Cash Vouchers and Cash for Work activities
- WASH Technical Advisers and Managers with experience in reconstruction of water and sanitation infrastructure in community and camp settings
- Shelter Technical Advisers and Managers
- Education Technical Advisers and Managers with experience in creating programmes using Temporary Learning Spaces and liaising with Ministries and working with Education Cluster partners
- Child Protection Technical Advisers and Managers with experience in providing psychosocial support in Child Friendly Spaces
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability Managers & Officers
- Logistics Managers & Coordinators
- Finance and Grants Managers
- Human Resources Managers
- Information/Communications Managers & Officers
- Safety and Security Officers
- Partnership Manager with experience of undertaking due diligence, assessment, monitoring and evaluation of partners.

Essential criteria to apply for these posts
• Prior management experience of working in an emergency response context
• Experience of working in remote field bases with limited infrastructure
• Substantial sector/speciality specific field experience.
• Excellent planning and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
• Strong communication, and interpersonal skills in English, with experience in managing multicultural teams
• Experience in and willingness to work and travel in difficult and insecure environments
• Commitment to Save the Children’s policies and values

Desirable criteria
• Experience of working within Syria or a bordering country
• Fluency in Arabic, ideally spoken and written
• Undergone face to face “Operating in Hostile Environments Security Training” by an accredited provider within the last 2 years
