Armory Specialist

Location:  Kabul, Afghanistan

Job Summary
Coordinates all weapons related activities for assigned program and is responsible for maintenance, repair, and inventory of all weapons and ammunition. The Armory Specialist will conduct weapon and ammunition issue and turn-in following DynCorp International’s (DI) strict armory control and accountability procedures and local military requirements, and will conduct daily end of shift weapons and ammunition inventories.

Principal Accountabilities
Provides identification of weapons, ammunition, and ancillary equipment required to conduct arming of contract employees for self-protection.
Coordinates ordering, shipment, delivery, receipt, and storage of all weapons, ammunition, and equipment.
Controls the issue, receipt and accountability of all weapons, ammunition, ancillary weapons-related equipment, and weapons pair parts for assigned program. Conducts audits as required
Serves as the primary inspector of all incoming and outgoing weapons and ammunition, performs serviceability checks, and makes all determinations of repair/salvage or disposition of unserviceable weapons and equipment.
Coordinates with the Property Book Officer on weapons accountability and serviceability.
Ensures that adequate weapon cleaning kits and associated supplies are on hand or on order.
Develops and maintains all inventory, storage, issuance, and recovery records for all weapons, ammunition, and ancillary equipment; and performs all data generation, input, and filing (electronic and hard-copy) associated with the issuing and receiving of weapons and ammunition.
Maintain weapons in a safe operating condition and ready for issue status.
Maintains and operates the PMO’s Arms Room according to established requirements.
Coordinates and schedules all employee weapons familiarization and range qualifications ensuring that all range operations are conducted IAW established safety guidelines and operational requirements.
Maintains records ensuring the accurate status of all armed employees for assigned program.
Develops and submits all required Monthly and Quarterly Arming Status Reports.
Develops all weapons familiarization programs of instruction and conducts training if required by contract.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge and understanding of firearms and the ability to properly use small arms weapons, as well as knowledge and understanding of individual and group force protection.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, computer/digital media skills to include experience using the most-up-to-date computer/software systems and applications, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated expertise using Excel.
Strong organizational skills are required.
Knowledge of DI and U.S. Military weapons policies and procedures including: AR-190-11 “Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives”; DOD 5100.76-M Physical Security of Sensitive
Conventional Arms, Ammunition & Explosives”; the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) as they pertain to Arms and Ammunition; and ITAR regulations.
Must be eligible for SECRET Level Security DoD Clearance (previously granted and never revoked or suspended).
Must maintain a current US Passport.

Experience & Education
Shall be a Certified Armorer, e.g., US Army 92Y, other Service comparable, or Law Enforcement.
Minimum of two years of work experience as a Certified Armorer.
Bachelor’s degree is desired.
Experience in professional development in regards to training and working with Middle Eastern or Asian cultures is desired.
Prefer factory weapons certifications.
Prefer individuals with joint and combatant level assignments.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Must meet all physical, medical and other requirements for overseas deployment in accordance with current Department of Defense (DoD) regulations.
Must possess the physical, emotional, and mental fitness, ability and capacity to endure austere living conditions.
Must possess a current medical exam completed within the past 12 months.
Carrying of a weapon is required.

Travel: Must be able to travel throughout Afghanistan.
