Security Manager

Job Summary

To supervise staff in the security department to provide an efficient, responsive security service to guests and staff.
To assist the Security Manager (HOD) to protect guests and staff by ensuring their safety and security, that of their property, vehicles and equipment in a discreetly professional manner whilst maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.

Tasks,Duties and Responsibilities
• Respect people including colleagues, customers, superiors peers and most of all self
• Open to feedback and listen to other points of view and ways of doing things
• • Know and apply the operational policies, procedures and standards of the department.
• Knowledge of surveillance systems e.g. CCTV
• Knowledge of safe and key systems
• Know and apply sound cost control

• Good technical knowledge of security legislation and service agreements/contracts
• Superior knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and standards including First Aid.
• Knowledge of safety equipment in all departments on the property
• Knowledge of emergency services and police contact numbers.
• Conducting of Annual Fire Evacuation drills as per Civil Defense regulations
• Conducting basic Fire Fighting training for various departments
• Provide Human Resource guidance to staff in the security department
• Control costs
• Operate a computer and relevant software i.e. Microsoft word and Excel
• Operate and monitor security equipment e.g. radios, surveillance systems (CCTV)
• Implement security calls/incident logging system
• Provide safety and security service in accordance with legislative and contractual requirements
• Observe and identify potential security threats.
• Incidents and potential risks are investigated and forwarded to the Security Manager (HOD) timely
• Accurate incident records are maintained
• Relevant feedback is communicated to management timely
• Maintain high visibility and presence on the property conduct walkabouts and observe the property
• The safety and security of guests, staff, property, vehicles and equipment is maintained at all times
• Searching procedures are implemented according to the SOP
• Proactive steps are taken to ensure the safely and security of guests and staff. Safety/security meetings are attended in the absence of the Security Manager (HOD).
• Ensure CCTV equipment is maintained and operational at all times
• Fire and Emergency/Evacuation exercises are conducted as per schedule
• Liaise with Security Manager (HOD) to ensure safety equipment is checked and maintained
• Conflict situations are dealt with discreetly and professionally
• Effective liaison with other departments to ensure the security of staff, guests, property, vehicles and equipment
• Effective communication with all HOD’s regarding security related issues and irregularities
• Effective communication with Front Office on anticipated check-in, checkouts, suite assignments, VIP guests etc.
• Liaison with Engineering to ensure safety equipment is maintained.

Requirements
•High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area.
•2-years degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice or related major.
•1 year experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area.
