CBM is also recognised as a collaborating organisation by the World Health Organization (WHO) and has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Together with its partner organisations, CBM is active in more than 700 projects in 81 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and in 2011, reached more than 36 million people.

CBM’s International Office in Bensheim, Germany, is accepting applications for SECURITY OFFICER.

Location: Bensheim, Germany

Contract Duration: 2 years

Contract start: January 2013

Objective: Reporting to the International Office Security Manager, the Security Officer supports the development and maintenance of CBM’s global staff security management system.

Main Tasks:

Pro-actively screen security and news sites for (potential) crisis areas that could affect CBM staff and facilitate the subsequent dialogue with field based offices; Support the Security Manager in the roll out of security management to all CBM regions; Operate and maintain CBM staff safety and security database; Operate and maintain CBM staff safety and security resources; Gather and process staff travel tracking data; Perform administrative tasks with regard to the security budget; Act as a member of CBM’s crisis management team; Support the Security Manager in training and team building of the crisis management team; Support security training and staff briefing; Support the learning process in security management in CBM.

Professional Profile and Requirement: A bachelor degree or equivalent by experience; Good understanding of the background and dynamics of global conflicts and the potential dangers to people living and traveling in insecure areas; Intercultural knowledge and sensitivity through living and working experience in a developing country; Well travelled; A background in security, human resources and/or NGO work is a plus; Ability to explain and maintain safety & security standards among staff; Proficient computer skills (MS Office); Very good spoken and written English; Other languages like German, French or Spanish are an added advantage; Willingness to take on responsibility; Good organizational skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information; Willingness to travel to developing countries for meetings, on-the-job training and workshops; Willingness to be available on short notice when a crisis occurs; Must have work permit for Germany/Schengen countries; The future job holder adheres to CBM beliefs as well as values and commits to CBM’s Child Protection Policy.
