Security Technician (FSN-06) position with U.S. Embassy - Afghanistan

Job Summary
The U.S. Consulate in Herat is seeking an individual for the position of Security Technician in the ESO office based in Herat province.

Duties and Resposibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of unclassified technical security equipment and devices; assist the senior FSN security technician with projects and implementation of technical security systems that will be directed by the OIC/ESO.
QualificationEducation
Completion of secondary (High) School and one year college studies in electronics or instruction/certification in Electronics, Computers, Electrical/Mechanical systems, Power systems and minor construction expertise is required. 

Experience: 
Two years of progressively responsible experience in major repairs and installation of electrical and heavy-duty mechanical equipment, closed circuit television, alarm systems, public address and vehicle arrest systems or any applicable technical system with western Embassies, UN organizations or international NGOs are required.

Language: 
Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking, Reading and writing English and Dari is required.
Knowledge: 
Should have initiative and good knowledge of power systems, use of all kinds of test equipment and should be able to trouble shoot and repair electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment. Should have good learning skills and have the ability to be trained on multiple systems.
Abilities and Skills: 
Ability to apply knowledge in the installation and maintenance of security equipment; to read blueprints and schematic diagrams of electrical and mechanical systems; and, to use electronic test equipment is required. Ability to use knowledge and skills to rectify problems associated with security equipment independently and direct other technicians to do the same is required.
