Job Summary
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul is seeking an individual for the position of Investigator with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Duties and Resposibilities:The incumbent is required to operate as an investigator supporting DEA Special Agents assigned to the Foreign Advisory and Support Teams. The selected candidate will be located in a forward operating base outside of the U.S. Embassy and will operate in a paramilitary fashion alongside specially trained members of the Afghanistan National Interdiction Units (NIU) in an effort to identify, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations.
QualificationEducation: Completion of secondary (High) school is required.
Experience: Two years prior investigative experience, which may include or be substituted by any prior liaison with U.S. or Afghan Law Enforcement, Military, or security agencies, is required.
Internal candidates must meet the minimum time-in-grade requirement of 52 weeks at grade FSN-7 in order to be considered for this vacancy.

Language: 
Level IV (fluent) speaking/reading in English, Dari and Pashtu is required.
Knowledge
A working knowledge of the Afghan criminal justice systems and familiarity with local laws pertaining to narcotics is required. Must have knowledge of undercover, surveillance and investigative techniques as well as the country of Afghanistan and surrounding regions.

Abilities and Skills: Ability to maintain extensive contacts with members of the American and Afghan Government and to exercise initiative and resourcefulness in obtaining information and evidence is required. Must be able to conduct investigations and provide guidance to U.S. and Afghan personnel,
draft reports in precise English language and have standard typing and computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Ability to safely operate motor vehicles is required. Applicants must be in excellent physical condition to endure enforcement operations in rough terrain and in hostile areas. Applicants must possess a valid driving license.
