Must be skilled in each language identified and capable of interpreting and translating
between the languages, as well as from the languages into English

RESPONSIBILITIESLinguists shall cover a wide range of styles and subjects to support missions.
Typical examples would include:
Contracts and Laws
Treaties and International Agreements on technical, scientific, military, economic, and cultural subjects
Training Manuals
Court Documents
Political Speeches and Position Papers
Slide Presentations
Official correspondence between government leaders.
Other work assigned to contractors includes on-site support for meetings or conferences, summarizing documents, reviewing translations, and ascertaining the substantive conformity of texts written in two or more languages (comparisons).
Provide Quality Translation, Transcription and Interpretation Services

Approximate Workload which will fluctuate:
Transcription 70% MEDEX, CELLEX & Misc
Translation 28% DOMEX & Misc
Interpretation 2% Operational Briefings & Misc
Provide written translations of aural, videotape, and/or other sources from one language into another language, with the meaning and intent of the original source preserved.Provide written translations of source texts in one language into another language, as identified above, with the meaning and intent of the original text (Translation).

REQUIREMENTS
All linguists must live in a transient status and be prepared to move on order to support changing mission requirements.
Must have command of the English language and at least one of the Target languages.
Must have a current Language Proficiency Test Score – Tested and verified by an independent organization or association as meeting the ILR rating associated to the linguist’s category.
Must be familiar with and have the ability to properly conduct oneself in accordance with local culture and customs, as well as deal unobtrusively with local populace.
Must be able to conduct consecutive and accurate translation, transcription, and interpretation services of on-going conversations and intelligence collection activities into, from and between the Target Language and English.
Must be able to provide accurate idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to the Target Language or vice versa, as well as the ability to interpret/translate using colloquial and slang words and phrases.
Must be able to accurately provide the cultural and ethnic context of translations and interpretations and provide advice to the COR/ACOR on the cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, documents, etc.
Must be able to accurately perform document exploitation (scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents for intelligence information).
Must supplement interpretations and translations with information pertinent and specific to professional fields such as medicine, science, engineering, legal, etc. Identify and extract information components meeting military information requirement list criteria.
Unless otherwise noted, you must be at a minimum 3/3 (ILR-scale) proficiency.

Team Members on Task (CONUS only, minimal or no job-related travel):
• Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Team Members on task (CONUS and OCONUS assignments, some travel):
• Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Team Members deployed to a combat zone must be physically able to live in austere conditions during off duty time that may include extremes in temperature, noise, and must not have any medical conditions that require access to uninterrupted power sources.
• Team Members deployed to a combat zone will be subject to hazardous conditions which may require them to wear a kevlar helmet, individual body armor and/or wear a gas mask for extended periods of time.
