PGSS OPERATOR & PGSS CANDIDATE OPERATOR

Location: Afghanistan (100%)
Reports to: PGSS Site Lead (OPCON/TACON, for Operational and Tactical Control), PGSS Hub Operator Lead Assistant (ADCON, for Administrative Control)/PGSS Training Lead & Staff in Yuma, AZ

PGSS Operator Summary:
The PGSS Operator (Operator) is responsible for the effective utilization of the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) aerostat. The Operator designation is separated into four roles and corresponding responsibilities, as follows: Flight Engineer; Payload Operator; Handler; and Launch and Recovery Director. The Flight Engineer manages the health of the payload and provides overall coordination and direction of the sensor(s), while communicating directly with the military customer. The Payload Operator controls the payload. The Handler assists and takes direction from the Launch and Recovery Director (LRD) during the launch and recovery phase of operations. The LRD flies the aerostat during launch and recovery. He is responsible for the safety of flight of the aerostat and flight crew during this phase of operation. Before and after recovery, the LRD is responsible for system pre and post flight inspections and the resulting documentation. An Operator can play all four of these roles in a given tour. Therefore, the ability to work within a cohesive team environment is critical. The Operator is routinely expected to repeatedly move and lift equipment up to 50 lbs. The operating environment requires good physical health (at minimum, a BMI less than 30).

PGSS Candidate Operator Summary:

The PGSS Candidate Operator, upon completion of the PGSS Operator training and certification, will have the role and responsibilities of the Operator position (see PGSS Operator position above) and be deployed to Afghanistan. The Candidate Operator is routinely expected to repeatedly move and lift equipment up to 50lbs. The operating environment requires good physical health (at minimum, a BMI less than 30).



Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

A prior tour (6 months or more) demonstrating the ability to function/live in an austere/remote and potentially hostile environment

One (1) or more years of experience with electrical and electronics systems, mechanical systems, or computer networking

Experience with Microsoft Office suite essentials (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance (at least Interim)

Operator Candidates should have at least one of the following qualifications:

One (1) year of sensor experience, or

Two (2) or Four (4) year degree from an accredited university or technical college, or

One (1) year of experience in General Aviation as a Pilot or UAV Pilot, or

One (1) year of experience in trouble shooting advanced electronics or computer networks, or

One (1) or more years of Intelligence Analyst experience
