Job Introduction:

G4S Ordnance Management provides specialist landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey, clearance and disposal services using a combination of manual, mechanical and dog clearance methods to allow clients to conduct their business safely in post-conflict regions. Services also include explosive ordnance (EOD)/bomb disposal services, range clearance, small arms and light weapons management and disposal including MANPADS, ammunition stockpile management and disposal as well as underwater survey and clearance.

We are currently seeking a Regional Manager (Africa) to join our headquarters team to manage existing and develop new business in the region.

Role Responsibility:

General
Provide management and technical input and support to G4S OM Senior Management Team.
Maintain contact with stakeholders and clients, ensuring that other G4S OM management are fully aware of any and all activities either being planned or conducted by G4S OM and to ensure that such activities are in line with overall corporate objectives.
Liaise with corporate BD team to ensure successful delivery of overall corporate objectives within the area of responsibility ensuring a two way flow of information and contacts.
Support to, and the promotion of, other G4S services.
Interface with relevant G4S Africa businesses to build a mutually beneficial relationship and to gain an insight into G4S OM opportunities across the continent.



Business Development
Work within the G4S OM Senior Management Team as appropriate to develop new business globally by:
Identify potential clients of interest to G4S OM;
Identify client budget holders / key decision makers;
Develop & manage client relationships;
Identify projects and ascertain levels of funding;
Identify opportunities for diversification through acquisition or green fields development;
Follow up on identified leads.



Bid Management
Member of the G4S OM proposal team. Lead or assist with proposals for the region and other areas in close consultation with the Operations Support Team and Business Support Unit ensuring all aspects of the business are addressed in proposal responses.
Conduct technical recconnaisance of tasks as part of the bid response process.



Finances
Assist with setting of budgets for areas of responsibility and holds key responsibility for completing projects within budget.
Work with Commercial Director to cost proposals.
Issue project budgets to implementing managers.
Review of expenditure and captial expenditure.
Financial overview and control of project budget and forecasts.



Operations
Short term management cover for projects by way of leave or sickness relief
Provide management direction and operational oversight to projects being implemented within area of responsibility, ensuring project objectives are achieved both financially and operationally.
Provide general management support to country and project staff as necessary.



Reporting
Provide detailed inputs for business management reports (i.e. competitor analysis, pipeline tracker etc.)
Submit monthly operation reports for area of responsibility to Chief Operating Officer, G4S OM

Any other task given by either line management of members of the executive committee.



The Ideal Candidate:





Essential:
Extensive relevant experience and knowledge of international mine action services delivery.
Familiarity with IMAS.
Ability to analyse client requirements, design a practical technical response and to structure and write proposals when required.
Proven general management experience in a mine action / ordnance management environment including a sound working knowledge of financial considerations
Interface easily with client representatives at all levels.
Team play who will engage with and support other members of the wider G4S team.
Experience of working in African countries.
High levels of integrity and business ethics.
Computer skills (Word, Excel etc.)
A willingness to go the ‘extra mile’.
Ability to get along with and liaise with a wide variety of people, respecting all cultures.

Desirable:
Experience of ammunition management.
An understanding of the International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATG)
Internationally recognised EOD qualification.
