Job Description
SOS International, Ltd. (SOSi) is seeking Law Enforcement Professionals (LEP) (law enforcement generalists, FBI, Border Patrol, Customs/Immigration, Drug Enforcement, local and state law enforcement officers) to support the US Army and Marine units deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. LEPs assist the US Army and Marine units by applying law enforcement counter-criminal perspective to the execution of the counter-insurgency operation. LEPs plan, deliver and lead training on street-level counter-gang investigative tactics, techniques and procedures and participate in mounted and dismounted patrols in hostile threat environments within the supported unit’s area of operations to provide immediate feedback and assistance.
Responsibilities
Serves as the supported battalion commander’s law enforcement criminal network subject matter expert; advises and contributes, trains, and mentors
Coordinates directly with LEP counterparts at higher headquarters and neighboring units to ensure unity of effort and synchronization
Applies a law enforcement counter-criminal perspective to the execution of counterinsurgency operations relevant to the supported battalion’s area of responsibility in Afghanistan
Plans, delivers and leads training on street-level counter-gang, counter criminal investigative tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) in a war fighting environment, including informant source development, tactical questioning and debriefing techniques, site exploitation (crime scene investigation), forensics, and biometric analysis to identify, and take action against criminal network activity
Contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of battalion-level counter-criminal intelligence and investigative activities, inclusive of the use of software programs and databases, applicable to identifying criminal trends and methods of operation, in order to interdict and suppress networks associated with the sourcing, production, emplacement, and initiation of IEDs
Strengthens the flow, interpretation and analysis of criminal activity-related information to/from higher headquarters, down to battalion level and below, and between battalions, in order to enhance access to actionable intelligence
Establishes a ‘cop-to-cop’ relationship with indigenous police assets (e.g., Afghan National Police) in order to strengthen trust, confidence, cooperation, and information sharing between local assets and the supported battalion
Accompanies mounted and dismounted patrols on street-level operations in hostile threat environments within the supported battalion’s area of operation to instruct and mentor on appropriate law enforcement TTPs, and to provide immediate feedback and assistance
Participates in tactical questioning and debriefing of suspects and detainees
Provides assistance to the development of detainee packages by either battalion or indigenous police staff
Contributes to the introduction into service/employment of law enforcement surveillance sensor systems
Minimum Requirements
Candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet current eligibility requirements for access to SCI classified information; US citizenship required
Candidates must have experience as a sworn member of a municipal, county, state or federal LE agency
Written communication skills to prepare written reports, information papers and other required correspondence
Verbal communications skills to effectively deliver briefings and communicate related training to a diverse audience
Strong computer literacy skills, focusing on the Microsoft suite of applications
Physical and mental capacity to operate in austere urban and desert/mountain environments in Afghanistan, alongside US, Coalition and HNSF for a period of twelve (12) months with little respite
Ability to pass a Physical Agility Test:
(a)Dummy drag (one hundred fifty (150) pound dummy) twenty-five (25) feet (b)Fireman’s carry (one hundred fifty (150) pound dummy) twenty-five (25) feet (c)Walk two (2) miles in forty (40) minutes or less wearing a thirty-five (35) pound pack, body armor, ballistic helmet and carrying a shoulder slung training aide as a substitute for a rifle
Specialized investigative experience in the field(s) of gang control/suppression, organized crime, controlled substance organizations, international money laundering, counter terrorism and/or public corruption
Experience in federal task forces such as Organized Crime / Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), High Intensity Financial Crimes Areas (HIFCA), High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) or Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) is highly desirable for. Specialized experience may also have been gained as a certified instructor in fields relating to complex investigations
Knowledge of border security and anti-smuggling tactics, techniques and procedures
Extensive knowledge of the application of forensic material identification, collection, preservation and analysis methods
