Description

Under the Criminal Justice Program Support contract, the US Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (DOS-INL) is mandated to furnish assistance to countries and international organizations by strengthening foreign police and criminal justice systems with a wide array of support. In furtherance of the CJPS mission objectives, FedSys is currently seeking subject matter experts in the area of Dignitary Protection to support the Department of State in various countries and regions that include: Afghanistan, Haiti, Iraq, Kosovo, Lebanon, Liberia, Sudan, and the West Bank.

Duties and Responsibilities
Preparation of a comprehensive course of instruction to host nation counterparts to include presentation, outline and lesson plan regarding the proper procedures and guidelines in order to provide protection to Dignitaries.
Adhere to strict deadlines associated with course development.
Work in coordination with other instructors and course developers.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Subject matter expert with law enforcement or military experience in Dignitary Protection
Prior experience training law enforcement or military personnel.
Ability to concisely develop curriculum development on the required subject.
Ability to clearly communicate instruction on Dignitary Protection.
Must have the ability and willingness to deploy to austere or post conflict areas of the world
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport
Ability to maintain a professional representation at all times.
Must have the ability to pass requisite physical, medical and psychological tests appropriate to assigned mission/country.
Must have valid U.S. driver’s license or an International Driving Permit and the ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle.
The ability and willingness to train other individuals in their area of expertise.
Ability to communicate in English (Level 4 reading and writing)
Ability to work independently, working with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment on a regular basis.

Interface

This position will interact with both internal and external customers to include members of FedSys senior management.

Language Requirements

There is no foreign language requirement associated with this position.

Background/Security

Candidates must be able to successfully pass a background and a nine-panel drug screening as a condition of employment. In addition, the candidate must also obtain and maintain at MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust) clearance level or higher as a condition of employment. Clearance level requirement may be subject to change at the Government’s discretion. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements.

Candidate must be a US citizen with a valid US passport and valid US Driver’s License.

Physical Demands

The incumbent will generally work long days in primitive conditions, and experience climates that include periods of extreme heat or cold. Incumbents frequently are required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Incumbents also may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Further, they routinely are required to wear heavy personal protective equipment (PPE). When travelling, incumbents are expected to be able to hand-carry their personal items and equipment, to include military duffel bags.

Incumbents serve alongside their native counterparts, with the majority of the work in the elements.

Educational / Work Experience
Combined total of 8+ years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years professional experience directly related to the specialist skill set below.
Must be employed in the respective lines of work for which they are being considered, or recently retired/separated within the last five years.

Professional Requirements
Negotiating, interpersonal and leadership skills.
The ability and willingness to train other individuals in their area of expertise.
Ability to communicate in English (Level 4 reading and writing).
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
