PSS/Designated Defensive

Marksman (P) (DDM) (OCONUS)

Duties

Perform as long-range defensive marksman.

The PSS/DDM shall be designated as PSS (P).

The PSS/DDM is required to attend the Basic PSS training course and the Defensive Marksman course.

The PSS/DDM must maintain weapons qualifications as outlined in this contract, for the Glock, M4, Shotgun, M240, M249 and M203 and the M24 or SR25 as issued and familiarization fire for the AK47.

PSS/DDM vetted personnel are authorized to permanently fill the Labor Categories of PSS and PSS/DDM in case of shortages with the approval from HTP.

Provide services as assigned.

Requirements

U.S. Citizen/TCN/LN, as specified in the Task Order.

Level 3 English proficiency.

Graduate and possess evidence of completion of a sniper/DDM/sharpshooter program issued by a military, law enforcement, or security (government or private sector) training
program of suitable complexity and quality to adequately prepare the graduate for successful performance as a WPS DDM. (e.g., USMC Scout/Sniper, Special Operations Target Interdiction, FBI HRT/SWAT, DSS MSD DDM, State Police Sharpshooter, NYPD Police Sharpshooter, etc.)

Must meet PSS qualifications.

Must have served in a DDM role for one (1) year.

Selection of DDM

General

DS management and DS team leaders must carefully screen candidates

Requires a high degree of motivation.

Ability to learn and maintain a variety of skills while sustaining PSD / PSS skills.

Full time law enforcement SWAT sniper experience, not SWAT collateral duty.

Selection Requirements – Marksmanship

Advanced knowledge/skills of rifle marksmanship are requisite, preferably .30 caliber or higher.

Advance knowledge/sills of rifle marksmanship will include a minimum of 600 yard qualification, ability to read wind, trace and hit movers.

Shall provide evidence of minimum M4 Qualification of 95% (285 out of 300) or better on the DS qualification course of fire.

Physical Condition / Characteristics

Should be in good physical condition. Must qualify “good” on the DSS physical fitness test per 3 FAM 1975.1.

Undesirable Physical Characteristics (but not “show stoppers”)

Wearing Eye-Glasses (can cause glare or might be broken)

Smoking (smoke can be seen and smelled and abstinence might cause needless uneasiness / shaking)

Left-Handed (requires excess motion to operate the bolt)
