The Security Director must demonstrate a measured, deliberate, and methodological approach to security risk management and bring substantial, relevant experience to the position. The Security Director must be able to take initiative and exercise independent judgment in managing the security program for a team of approximately 15 resident expatriates and a large number of Afghan employees working in Regional Command (RC) South. This requires a thorough understanding of the objectives and operating requirements of the project as well as different exposure levels and associated security needs. The Security Director will report to the Chief of Party.

Qualifications
* At least 3 years professional experience as a Security Director or more senior position in a conflict zone, preferably in Afghanistan.
* Minimum 5 years working in the security field, including experience in peacekeeping operations and logistics.
* Experience working in operations and security in fragile and conflict zones.
* Experience monitoring risks, alerting senior managers to risks and recommending measures to mitigate risks.
* Ability to make and implement decisions that balance the objective of keeping staff safe against the demands of project implementation, within a complex and dynamic security environment.
* Experience interacting with security experts, national counterparts, ISAF and others to stay abreast of risks and current mitigation practices.
* Written and spoken fluency in English required. Relevant undergraduate degree or relevant work experience in the field of professional security.
Responsibilities

* Oversees and assures the static and mobile security of project personnel and facilities.
* Actively monitors risks, alerts senior managers to risks and recommends measures to mitigate risks.
* Manages AECOM’s security subcontractor to ensure the subcontractor understands and consistently provides cost-effective security services to meet AECOM’s expectations and requirements.
* Establishes and oversees systems to ensure that the project has access to relevant sources of intelligence and information on the security situation in Afghanistan as well as detailed information for specific provinces, districts and towns where AECOM has ongoing activities.
* Reports on security risks and measures to AECOM corporate security personnel.
* Coordinates with AECOM’s Chief of Party to obtain input on security policy and to ensure that he/she understands and operates within AECOM’s overall security framework for Afghanistan.
* Enforces AECOM’s security policies and procedures.
* Prepares a quarterly report that summarizes the results and challenges of AECOM’s security program in Afghanistan.
