Director of security management unit

Chemonics seeks a Washington-based security director to manage and respond to the security needs of Chemonics staff working in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The director will work with the home-office regional security management unit and field-based country security directors to provide security-related guidance to our projects and new business initiatives. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:
Advise senior management on all security-related matters in Afghanistan and Pakistan
Develop strategies to continuously maintain, improve, and adapt Chemonics’ security platform in Afghanistan and Pakistan
Integrate security into project life cycles, provide traveler support, and respond to crises

Qualifications:
Permanent U.S. employment authorization required
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in security studies, international development, or related discipline preferred
Minimum 10 years of security experience in crisis management and implementing security platforms for civilian operations in conflict zones
Experience working in post-conflict environments; experience in Afghanistan and Pakistan preferred
Extensive program management experience with USAID, the Department of Defense, or the Department of State
Proficiency in physical security standards with knowledge of personnel protection and guard force operations
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English required
