Senior Embedded Security Advisor (2 yr contract) , Botswana

The main focus of this role is:
· To provide day-to-day advice and support to existing Security Managers at site and country level in order to enable achievement of the defined improvement objectives and the establishment of the security discipline as an effective representation of a high performance organisation.
· To focus on operational issues such as definition and codification of security processes, alignment with Security Standards, integration of technical projects, establishment of sound management practices, performance review and identification of improvement objectives for critical security processes, supporting the delivery of security awareness programs to build understanding of individual responsibilities for security within the workforce.

Responsibilities
· Co-ordinate and implement elements of the Global Security strategic plan and local operational plan to achieve set objectives.
· Meet improvement targets in areas such as Surveillance, Human Resources, Investigations, Intelligence, Technical Systems, Access Control and other functional areas of responsibility.
· Meet the objectives for developing awareness and a just culture within the workforce within high risk areas at each site through training, education and mentorship.
· Support the delivery of various training programmes into each site and ensure that the required changes in security process, performance and behaviour are embedded and sustained post training.
· Continually review organisational design to ensure efficient and effective delivery across operations.
· Identify, analyse, forecast and report to the Country Head of Security on potential risks and security related threats identified at local operations to company assets and employees in order to proactively institute strategies to mitigate them.
· Continually assesses security and wider operational practices during visits to local operations for inefficiencies / possible improvement opportunities and makes recommendations to enhance value delivery.
· Assesses the effectiveness of the site-based multi-disciplinary steering committee during visits to operations. Make recommendations to improve any shortcomings.
· Build professional competence and capacity within the Security function through mentorship, coaching to support the development of next level of leaders and the existing Senior Security Managers.
· Support establishment of the security function as champions of safety.
· Participate on behalf of Head Office in annual and other Security Effectiveness and Compliance Audits as per the prescribed program.
· Assist the Senior Security Manager at each site in the drafting of an annual updated audit and review program and in budget management matters.
· Management of assigned consultant to achieve objectives.
· Leverage internal and external networks to create strong partnerships/alliances and build collaborative relationships to increase connectivity between security and other departments.

Candidate Profile
· Must have a comprehensive understanding of the security function gained through a formal education and complimented by diverse international practical experience.
· Relevant Tertiary Qualification at NQF Level 6 (NQF Category - HET: Higher Education) Bachelor’s Degree (Three Years) or Higher Diploma in Security Management or recognized equivalent including ASIS CPP.
· Experience of working in an African cross cultural environment within a mining or O & G business.
· Demonstrate success in security discipline with specific experience at senior management level (either leading the function in a Region/Operating Division for 3 to 5 years) or diverse consulting experience..Must have been accountable for a P & L and conducted business planning process; Financial and business astuteness.
· Experience of implementing or supporting a major change management process, and demonstrate requirements for success in this regard.
· Must have led teams of security people and be able to demonstrate success with regard to leadership, management and career development. In particular setting an example through personal behaviours and values and challenging and enabling others to follow.
·Must have moved though a development pathway in any environment that shows a commitment to continuous self-improvement and ambition.
· Patience, a sense of humour and ambition to progress in the industry
· Highest levels of integrity and self discipline.
· Experience of an environment or business with high internal threat focus a distinct advantage.
· Experience of operating as a member of a cross functional business leadership team a distinct advantage.
