General Description:
The Firearms Instructor reports to the Firearms Training Unit Chief, located in the Special Skills Branch, Security and Law Enforcement Training Division, Office of training and Performance Support (TPS), Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), U.S. Department of State. The TPS is a fully accredited academy through Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA). The incumbent will serve as a firearms instructor and senior range safety officer conducting day-to-day operations of the Firearms Training Unit ensuring objectives are met. Additionally, the Firearms instructor will participate in training oversight for various Task Orders awarded under the Department of State Worldwide Protective Security contract. This oversight requires travel throughout the US and abroad. Overseas travel may include areas declared as hostile environments.
