ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The lead instructor shall conduct Sniper Team Operations to train U.S. Army (B4) Snipers as a leader of a mobile training team (MTT) or at home station Ft. Benning, GA. The lead instructor will coordinate ranges and training areas through the Fort Benning, GA Range Control; request and arrange pick-up and turn-in of required ammunition; request and coordinate the pick-up and turn-in of student meals; dispatch and maintain multiple Transportation Motor Pool (TMP) vehicles; maintain student records; oversee the training room and administrative operations of the US Army Sniper School. The lead instructor will ensure coordination is
maintained with higher training headquarters; conduct classroom / laboratory / seminars / conferences / discussions / lectures / and demonstrations including course introduction, practical exercises, and computer assisted instructions; review course documents and training materials in accordance with United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Regulation 350-70, Systems Approach to Training Management; ensure classrooms and training areas are prepared and supplied with the all needed materials; collect / analyze lessons learned; identify trends; review capstone doctrinal publications to identify doctrinal disconnects; identify emerging technologies that may impact the conduct of training; provide an entrance briefing to new units; conduct student critiques to identify strengths, weaknesses, and actions to improve performance. The lead instructor will track schedule and conduct remedial training and student retests; conduct reviews of Instructors; maintain and update a class status chart and logs reflecting number of students in training and class progression; review and summarize student course critique; schedule remedial training as needed; review student news releases; review each student's record for progression; make entries on student record of training; complete Training Quality Report; complete a report on students identified as receiving deficient training; prepare required documentation on student release prior to graduation. The lead instructor will conduct academic counseling; grade written tests; grade results performance tests; review and grade homework projects; prepare student written evaluation upon student graduation; provide a monthly written report containing a summary of accomplishments during the reporting period; conduct the student out brief and course critique to support course evaluations; produce recommendations in monthly reporting to include a stay behind training support package; maintain monthly accounting of all equipment and training materials; support all requirements by safety/security officer (SSO), and Physical Security Officer.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
The lead instructor will possess experience in Brigade, Battalion and Company Operations as a Planner; have proficiency with ADP equipment and software packages to prepare briefings and write technical papers; have knowledge of TRADOC Regulations 350-70; Extensive knowledge of infantry units and operations from squad through brigade levels. Candidates will have a minimum of 24 months as a Sniper, Sniper Team Leader, Sniper Platoon Sergeant. Candidates will possess communication skills equivalent to a 12th grade education level (oral and written) and meet all physical and academic requirements of the Sniper Instructor position. Candidates will have prior US Army Basic Instructor or Instructor Trainer Course (ITC) Instructor with the “8” Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) and experience in creating and updating lesson plans, Programs of Instruction (POIs), and Training Support Plans (TSPs). Candidates will be a graduate of a Basic Non Commissioned Officer Course (BNCOC).
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The preferred candidate should possess a Combat Life Savers Course (CLS) current certification (will train) and a Range Safety Officer Certification (RSO) or (RSOIC). The candidate should be a graduate of an Ammo Handlers Course (preferably Ft. Benning).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a current U.S. Passport, or the ability to obtain one upon hire; ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance; National Agency Check must be completed prior to start date.
