QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Academic Background 1 University degree preferably with a focus on security risk management or in lieu of a degree: 12 years military experience and the UNDSS Security Certification Programme Certification. 2 Occupational Health and Safety Certification. Relevant Work Experience 1 A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in security, police or military service with extensive command or leadership experience. 2 Of these, a minimum of three (3) years of international exposure in a security management function in the United Nations within a Security Phase 3 country. 3 Direct experience in the United Nations Security Management System with proven crisis response
capabilities.
4 Previous experience of working in a conflict/post-conflict or crisis environment. Technical Expertise 1 In-depth knowledge of security management and risk management. 2 Knowledge of UN-HABITAT business, operations and programme cycle. 3 Knowledge of the Security Management Team, UNDSS and UN Security Management System. Language Requirements 1 Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. 2 Knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.
