Security Specialist - Washington, D.C

Job Description
The Security Specialist will work on Monday's from 0730 -1630
and Tuesday Friday from 0800 1700. They will not work on
weekends or holidays. The Security Specialist will be required
eight (8) hours a day, five (5) days a week, not including
weekends or holidays.
Requirements
Must have 2-3 years experience in the security industry.
Knowledge of Personnel Security, Background Checks and
Adjudication are helpful.
Ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm and to operate most
commonly used software programs to include MS Word and
Excel. Database experience is also valuable.
Ability to communicate to group settings orally and in writing is
a must. Good organizational skills are required.
Responsibilities
The Security Specialist will provide support to plan, coordinate,
and implement the organizations security objectives. He or she
will be responsible for completing administrative security tasks
and assisting with monitoring and updating security databases for
tracking security accesses to the agency. The candidate is largely
responsible for maintaining and updating the specific program,
which will entail that the candidate manages the overall smartcard
system.
The Security Specialist will produce daily activity reports using the
specific program. Furthermore, he or she will be the registrar and
activator for the specific program monitored by the agency.
The Security Specialist will be responsible for developing and
maintaining the new employee program at the agency. This will
include badging and fingerprinting all new federal and contract
employees. It will also include giving a presentation to all new
employees twice a month. Listed below are the tasks that the
security specialist will be required to perform:
Registrar and Activator for the specific program requires a three
day training program.
Run reports and save them to a flash drive, maintain profiles,
created tracking logs for badges
Personnel Security -run reports, set-up personnel folders,
process necessary forms, enter information into the e-QIP portal
Security Awareness and New Employee Orientation create
folders, give a security orientation briefing twice a month,
capture fingerprints, create temporary employee badges in the
specific system
Visitor Control Program monitor and maintain the specific visitor
program
Occupant Emergency Plan (OEP) -act as a monitor during
emergency evacuations by checking in all volunteer monitors
Continuity of Operations (COOP) -maintain the COOP phone log
and coordinate with the COOP Manager on conducting quarterly
testing of that log
Education & Work Experience
Security Specialists shall possess at least a high school diploma or
GED. No degree required but any college/secondary education is
preferred.
